I like every club to be honest... If you have the swing, you can really hit anything IMO. I think iacas put it best when he quoted what Ben Hogan said which I believe is so true about only 4-5 perfect shots a round.

Now if I had to pick one club, I'd pick my 3 wood, I hit it solid, just have been having some trouble working the ball with it when I want to, BUT it's all goooddd

My Putter, doesn't seem to want to do what I want it to do. The real problem is, I have to use it atleast once on every hole

Can't think of any particular club either. If I'm playing well I look forward to just about every shot no matter what the club, doesn't mean I will hit it the way I want to though. In general, my bunker play has been lack-luster lately, so I guess whatever club I am using in the sand has been giving me the most trouble.

Any long iron sucks for me. I get a lot of those ugly-but-good-outcome shots, laser-beam line drives on medium par 3's where the ball ends up miraculously on the green, the other guys say "nice shot" but we all know it was ugly and lucky.

My 7-8-9-PW-GW-SW-LW are friggin awesome for me.
Putter is decent, but I certainly 3-putt more than I'd like.

Driver needs work, I'll hit a decent draw one shot and then a wicked slice the next. My own fault. My 3W is money, my 2H hybrid falls somewhere between my driver and 3W, kind of unpredictable, but I hit it nicely off the deck.

definitely my driver.... i am having a hard time lining it out, i'll either get quick and snap it, or not put enough roll to the wrist and block it out . probably hit it good 50% of the time, it is just discouraging.

the second club that has been kicking my ass lately is my 3 hybrid... can't put it on a T and i get quick and snap it alot

Anything that isn't a 7 or higher. The others seem to work together to make sure at least one of the group isn't cooperating.

I would have to go with my Driver. I hit it well about 80% of the time, but there are usually one or two swings a round that get me in trouble. The problem I have is that I hit it a long way and when I'm off, I'm really losing strokes. In an effort to combat this, I've taken to hitting my 3-wood the majority of the time. In fact, the last two rounds I've played (on a 6,900 yard course), I've hit my driver 3 times a round and broke 80 both times.

I should learn from that but its an ego thing.

i've found that i tend to struggle with my lowest iron. for those of you who share that i have found this suggestion helpful. if you currently have dropped your 4 out of your bag and you are struggling with your 5, do this. return the 4 to your bag. hit it at the driving range with your other clubs.

i've found that some people struggling with their longest iron is a mental thing. they can hit everything but the longest one in their bag. add the 4 back and practice with it. you'll see your 5 get better because you'll have more confidence in it and your lack of confidence will be sitting in your bag with a 4 on it.

Gap Wedge. It's fairly new and the distance seems to be all over the place, usually short. First time I played with it, it was money. Hasn't been right since, so I think I've knocked the good shots out of it. Has a spinner shaft that I think kicks the ball up to high. I like to hit a lot of knock downs with the gap and this club won't cooperate with that plan. It is now in the closet where it will sit until it's time to give it to someone I don't like.

Driver, followed by five iron. I think I put to much pressure on myself with those clubs. As a short hitter I hit a lot of drivers and if I have a bad day with it there is no way around it. I hit a lot of five irons on par 4 second shots and par 3s. It my 160-165 yard club. Might be time to go with a 5 hybrid? Nah I still have some pride left.

3 and 5 wood - especially off the deck or in the rough. I still top the clubs a lot. In fact on some tight driving holes, I'll stick with driver knowing that it'll get down there maybe 200-240 yards. Weeks go by without a fairway wood coming out of my bag!

You can go OB and still save bogey? Seriously, let me in on that. Nothing ruins a game for me than an OB shot (or into the hopelessly unplayable woods which line most fairways). Or worse, consecutive OB shots.

Why don't you just re-shaft that GW with a DGS300 or Black Gold S300 shaft? Those are both high kickpoint shafts and will keep the ball flight lower. As a plus, if you go with DG S300 shaft, the wedge will match the rest of your clubs. Cost should not be bad, the shafts are $10-$20 and labor shouldn't be more than $15-$20 typically. If you re-grip, thow in another $5 or so.

My Lob wedge, on the practice green it is the most accurate pinseeker I have, but on the course it is the most agonisingly consistent shanking device I have. All in the mind I know, but it is my most feared club, I would pretty much use every other club in my bag before reaching for my LW.

    • You can pre-order an R50 here for pretty rapid shipping (these are back-ordered almost everywhere): https://www.playbetter.com/products/garmin-approach-r50-golf-launch-monitor-simulator?ghref=2301%3A700794. This is an affiliate purchase, and I'm willing to kick back lifetime ad-free Supporter membership here on TST or a 90-minute GEARS session for the cost of a regular member lesson (about 1/3 the cost). Also, I'll record a video myself soon when I get an R50.

    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
