Buying balls @ Amazon.com - What does used mean?

I was shopping for balls on Amazon and noticed used offers. The prices weren't that much better. What does used designate? I assume box was opened or returns?

Kill slow play. Allow walking. Reduce ineffective golf instruction. Use environmentally friendly course maintenance.

Probably fished out of a pond by one of the ball refurbishing companies. A couple times a year, a scuba diver goes through our ponds and carries out thousands of balls. The balls then go to a company that sorts them, cleans them up and packages them as you see.

It varies. Some are just fished out, cleaned and sold. Others can be refurbished. They should inform you about this.
