Gotta disagree those are your big issues

What is the right foot banking drill intended to fix/accomplish?

Help keeps the path outward and raise the handle.  If you're slicing it there is a good chance you're dumping those wrist angles too soon, maybe the elbows are pulling apart, creating a path too far to the left.  When the right heel rises off the ground too early, the right knee over flexes, hips stop going forward, pressure moves to the left heel, wrist angles release too soon, so the swing direction can start rotating too far the left.

Here's another instructor doing something very similar

UPDATE:

I finally remembered to bring my old driver with me when I played this morning.  I know it's not cool to blame the equipment, but . . . I blame the equipment.  I hit 3 out of 6 fairways (obviously I'd prefer 6 of 6, but it's a 100% improvement).  I also gained probably 20-30 yards, as the ones I put in the fairway were back up to around 260, as opposed to the 230 - 240 I was getting with the R11s when I did somehow manage to put the ball in play.

So now, what should I do? Am I stuck with a $330 driver I can't use?  If it's the shaft that's the problem (which is what I'm hoping), how do I go about figuring out shaft I need, aside from bringing in my old driver and asking for the closet match to that?

What do you do now? stay in the fairway with your 260 and shoot better  numbers.

Am i stuck with a 330 driver i can't use? no sell it for 50 cent on the dollar and forget about it. losing 115 is a cheap lesson, be glad you didn't buy an iron set!!

A new driver completely screwed up my brain and translated into poor ball flight. Getting back to the basics that made the other driver work. I had to the same. I "thought" I had my drive down and when I got the new one I started swinging out of my shoes because when I did the swing right it would kill the distance of my old driver. I forgot the "easy swing". GET BACK TO BASICS! ;)

"My ball is on top of a rock in the hazard, do I get some sort of relief?"

Pretty sure that's positive

I just filmed a video yesterday that I'll put together soon.  Setting up with the rear foot banked and making 3/4 long arc swings with the driver.  Long arc meaning that the wrist were uncocked (or close to it) into the followthrough.   Carrying the ball 100-120 yards, every ball drew. Really great drill to exaggerate the "stretch" into the followthrough to get the handle raising.

this may be a dumb question, but can you explain what you mean by "get the handle raising" and its significance?

not a dumb question.  this would mean that your path is on a more in to out direction.  raise the handle a bit and push it a little forward at address.  youll find that this can help to promote a better in to out path.

Check your setup. Almost every time I start doing something crappy out of the blue it's because I somehow snuck closer to the ball or something. I've noticed that if I play a hole that has a tee box not square to the fairway i'm trying to hit it'll screw with my alignment if i'm not careful. Then i'll make knee jerk reactions and throw away everything I was doing well in an attempt to fix something that wasn't that wrong.
