so how do you hit a shot higher?  I can do ok with lowering flight but sometimes when I need to hit a shot higher, I'm really clueless as to how to do it and still get distance...so...what do you do?

For me it's having the ball a little more forward in the stance and a full follow through.

first of all, everybody knows its pronounced "traj" - just ask Tiger.

not scientific at all, but i swing harder and throw my hands.  i think that makes me flip it pretty good and adds height.  it also doesnt go as far because im not hitting it with forward shaft lean so i have to adjust for that as well.

I play the ball a little further forward than usual, and picture sliding the club under the ball without shaft lean or hitting down. As colin said it's almost like a deliberate flip.

So, almost like a pitch shot? Do you let your left wrist breakdown or keep it flat?

Yup, and you have to let your left wrist break some because you want the clubhead to be just passing your hands at impact. A contolled flip with a shallow AoA.

Yeah, it's almost like a flop shot, just not with a wedge, where the hands and clubhead pass the ball at the same time.

ahh...shallowing out the AoA..thats a helpful thought.

My normal approach was to open the face and all that but it just didn't produce near enough distance and I figured there has to be a better way.

Just moving the ball a bit forward in your stance and getting your weight a bit more forward at impact should increase the launch angle.  This is what I do to get longer irons higher.  I don't try to flip.

Opposite of a punch shot (low follow through) a high shot requires hands high at follow through.

Need distance...while doing all the above...why not just take one more club?
