Those of you who haven't met Golfswine yet will easily understand why he fits as B.A. Baracus once you see him.  Let's just say he's not somebody you want to mess with! ;)

Here is a pic of the cart GPS while its sitting right near the back of the blue tee box of hole 15. I either remembered it wrong or the last time I played there the tees were one box back. However, notice that those numbers apply if you aim considerably left of the bunker (which is where the aiming stick is.). If you aim at the stick then it is 200 (at least) :)

This is really styling. You guys pick really nice golf courses. Can we have an outing every month?

Good news... I have a buddy who wants to come so that puts us back to 20 golfers; which gives us 5 foursomes.

This means that all the groups will play with 80% of their course handicap and have one throwout score on every hole.

Here are the revised groups:

Tristan Hilton

We aren't playing in IE. We're playing at Talega. You need directions or an address?

Yeah, just want to make sure that nobody gets lost on their way to the course Sunday.  Talega is in San Clemente, not the Inland Empire.  And here is the contact info, in case anybody wants to map it out:

OK, good ... just wanted to make sure that everybody was on the same page.  It's gonna be fun, and I'd hate for somebody to miss it for something silly. :)

I checked with the restaurant at Talega, for those of you who are interested in breakfast, and they are not open in the morning before we tee off, however, they have a "breakfast on the go" thing that they tell me is available starting at 6:30.  The menu consists of a Breakfast bacon burrito or breakfast bacon biscuit for $5, or oatmeal, cereal, or a parfait for $4.

Sounds like maybe you'll be better off at IHOP or Denny's or McDonalds on the way in.

    • Day 6 1/5/25 Putting through 50 mm gates. Last night I only hit two gates, and tonight it was just one. Perhaps tomorrow will be my first perfect session from 11” on this size gate.
    • I agree that if a lefty swing was reasonable, then that part of the situation is fine. As in, if the ball were pretty close to the bush so that a right handed swing was blocked but far enough away that he had a clear strike at the ball left handed, then I think that's a fair thing to do. But then, as Erik said, assuming that the cart path in question is wide enough to accommodate driving a standard golf cart on it, then NPR is certainly on the desert side of the path. Anyone know what the penalty is for taking an illegal drop in this way (not at the NPR)? One question I have, @iacas said the NPR was probably in the bush. Do you not have to be able to take a reasonable shot from a spot for it to count as a relief point? Assuming the NPR is in the bush, would he be allowed to determine NPR given the lefty swing but then actually drop the ball behind and towards the cart path from the NPR to give himself a right handed shot that wasn't blocked by the bush? Here he would be determining NPR given the proposed lefty shot, but then taking the actual drop in a place where he wouldn't get full relief for the lefty shot. Is that legal. To be more extreme, what if the OB line were 18 inches into the desert from this cart path. If you take relief for a lefty swing, is the NPR OB, since your feet fit in bounds on the desert side of the cart path? Or does OB not count as a relief point so there you'd get to drop on the grass side of the path. Assuming that's true, is it then legal to do what the OP's friend did, which is drop in the grass to get relief from a lefty swing, then set up for a righty swing and take relief again into the fairway?
    • Day 246 (5 Jan 25) - - Super short game session today - 54° at 10-15 yds max.  Real simple - pick a target landing point near the “pin” and get the ball to release toward the same.  Focused on set up and engaging the club’s bounce - the club performed nicely - a few near dunks, one hop in the hole, and lots of finishes inside a 10’ radius of the pin.
    • Day 26: 1/5/2025 I got feedback from Yoda on my swing videos I sent him and he pointed out two things.  First was a direction and amount of a weight shift I've been working on, so I'll have to tweak that a bit.  Second, (This one I was aware of, but I'm glad he pointed it out, that makes me feel like I can at least somewhat self diagnose my problems.) I got a hitch at the top that I've worked on eliminating, or at least reducing, and it's back. The hitch and my hand-path are sort of my perpetual-swing-nemeses.  So, today it's back to the mirror. And lots of slow motion swings. Focusing on direction and volume of a weight shift as well as eliminating the hitch at the top.  I'm excited about where my swing is going. I "feel" like it's improving. Time will tell if feel is real in this case.
    • So, swing wight on a Ping G430 I think is like D0. Lightening the grip by 6 grams will move it one swing weight higher... D1.  Personally, I can't tell the difference of just one swing weight point. Normally it takes 2 or more likely 3 points for me to notice. Others, however, say that they can feel 1/2 of a swing weight point.  I'd probably just leave it, but if you can feel the difference, you could add a 5 gram butt weight. Your other option, of course, is to just replace the rear weight in the B430 head with one that's 2 grams lighter and you will counteract the 1 swing-weight-point. (Rule of thumb: 2 grams in the head = 1 swing weight point. 5 grams in the grip = 1 swing weight point.)  You can google "Ping G430 driver head weights" and get sources to get just about any mass of weight you desire.
