Bobby, I never thought I'd need to tell you this, but I would be a bad parent if I didn't. Soccer was invented by European ladies to keep them busy while their husbands did the cooking.

Toward the end of a very lengthy nil-nil (tied at 0-0) game, Bobby gets a fast break (if such things are called that in soccer), is heading toward the goal with the entire field empty before him and suddenly his coach screams out

"Slow down! We've already got the tie! We don't want to hurt anyone's feelings!"

Sorry, but any sporting event where all of its fans think it's incredibly cool to scream GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL for a full 96 seconds after that rarest of events - someone actually scores - occurs is but one thing:  lame.  Don't even get me started about all the diving those cry-baby Europrancers do.  Soccer is lamer than a two-legged dog.

Some may wish to disagree with me, but you would be more wrong than if you contended neither Tiger nor Jack were even good enough to be considered scratch golfers.

That is all.

I coached soccer for 12 years.  I would rather watch any youth soccer game than professional soccer with the exception of the US Women's team.  They play to win, where most teams play not to lose.  The Men's World Cup was awful last time.

THE MAIN REASON why women's sport do not get good ratings on TV is the following: Women do not watch women's sports on TV .  Bottom line.  Women are half the population (~51-52%), but do not watch sports as much and certainly do not support women's sports enough.  I have five women friends who play golf regularly.  Only one of them is a avid watcher of golf and women's golf.  She goes to the Solheim cup every two years.  Other than that, none of them watch women's sports.  They'll watch men's sports all the time, but not women.

Women athletes need to reach out to women to help their sports thrive.

Of the vast multitude of ways that are available to insult soccer, that's what they went with? Uhm, okay.

Now, speaking of scoring average and strength of competition (and whether what Park is doing truly is amazing), I thought it would be interesting to see how many players you have to go through to get to 1 more stroke above average.

This is how they shake out:

69.082 - Tiger Woods - PGA Tour #1 in Scoring

70.049 - #15 Keegan Bradley

71.083 - #96 John Senden

72.058 - #168 Ben Curtis

73.593 - #183 Paul Haley II - Last on PGA Tour in scoring

69.674 - Inbee Park LPGA #1 in Scoring

70.659 - #7 So Yeon Ryu

71.674 - #29 Gerina Pillar

72.667 - #62 Juli inkster

73.682 - #108 Pat Hurst

74.667 - #139 Laura Davies

75.727 - #147 Kayla Mortellaro

76.842 - #151 Karlin Beck

77.300 - #152 Hannah Yun - Last on LPGA Tour in scoring

What this shows you is that in a given week, Park really has only about 29 competitors to deal with (those that average within 2 strokes of her) and if you want to expand it to 3 stroke, it only brings in 61 players in an average week.

Compare that to the PGA where Tiger and guys at the top have 95 other golfers who average within 2 strokes of the leader and if you expand it just one more stroke to 3, you bring in 167 golfers - more than ever compete in a PGA field each week and 100 more golfers than average within 3 strokes of the top scorer on the LPGA tour.

Quoting my own post because I don't think it's getting enough play - this, more than anything, shows why success on the LPGA Tour is not viewed with the same level of praise - there simply is not as much competition.  In fact, it's not really even close.

I might be a snob and tell me if Im the only person who's noticed this but women's golf (or champions tour for that matter) isnt always shown in HD. Thats enough for me to quickly change the channel. Not that it matters one bit. but the "guy" in me didnt like to look at Inbee Park in HD, BUT recently I've decided that she's not THAT bad looking.

It's 2013, every sporting event should be in HD. I don't think that makes you a snob.

And lol at the Inbee in HD bit.

The Internet Adjustment Formula:
IAD = ( [ADD] * .96 + [EPS] * [1/.12] ) / (1.15)

IAD = Internet Adjusted Distance (in yards)
ADD = Actual Driver Distance (in yards)
EPS = E-Penis Size (in inches)

While I subscribe to "to each own" and "beauty is in the eye of beholder" theory, but really???  Of course, it all depends on what you mean by "THAT bad."
