If you guys think ProV's fly far, pick up a box of Nike One Black. I guarantee you will like them as much, if not better than the ProV1x's. If you need a softer ball, buy the platinums.

I can't stand Nike balls, and Dave didn't like them much more

when he reviewed them .

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

I may have already said this in another thread, but I've had a similar story...early in the year my playing partner said, "You gotta stop playing these cheap balls". So, I bought a sleeve of Pro V1x (new). I played the whole round with them and shot a 93 on my home course. The next time out, same ball and shot a 89 (first time I broke 90 at this course). I was getting more distance of the tee - I was in places I had never been before (in a good way). I noticed my short game improved quite a bit. For putts, I had to adjust to hitting a little harder.

Now, I have to admit that my game is back to where it normally was (shooting mid to high 90s with some 100s thrown in). I do notice that I lose less balls per round now. Even last Saturday when I shot a 97, it was the same ProV1x for the whole round. When I'm cheap, I buy NXT Tours, although I haven't tried the "new" ones yet. For a point of reference, my old balls were Nike Power Distance Soft and Nike Juice. I can firmly state that I am a Titleist convert....

Not necessarily. There are too many variables for me to say a softer ball would help without knowing your swing. Typically, the slower the swing, the more backspin you need on a drive to keep the ball up in the air. But this varies due to different swing types, attack angles, launch angles etc. The only way you can really know what ball works best for you is to test different balls on a launch monitor. If you dont feel like paying for that, you can just buy some different balls, play a few rounds with the different balls, and see what ball is giving you the results you are looking for as far as distance off the tee, trajectory, and feel around the greens, although I would really recommend hopping on a launch monitor.

    • Weather Outlook Friday:  Mid 70's, Sunny, No Wind  Saturday: Mid to Upper 70's, Partly Cloudy, Light Breeze Sunday: Upper 60's to Low 70's, Cloudy with 45% Chance Rain, Light Wind  I am loving these temps for golf.  I am kind of glad to get back to Northstar since I do not remember much of the course. Looking at the aerial images, I remember some of the holes, and the routing.  Reading a few reviews on Eaglesticks, it looks like it is in good condition? I wonder if the amount of rain they have gotten this year has helped out. Which is nice because it's a very fun course to play. I like the layout a lot.  The Virtues is really nice.
