I was wondering if anybody here has any experience or heard anything about electrospin's golf launchpad? With the long winters in North Dakota I think it would be fun and keep my game on point. I don't expect a real life simulator, as long as it is some what accurate and provides a fun experience I would think it would be worth it.

Moving out of Grand Forks would be a good start. Sioux Suck!

From what I've read, it's not a real simulator where you could slice and it goes 300 yds dead straight.

So it's up to you; there are better ones but are much more expensive and need more room.

just bought one today and it is picking up my natural draw quite nicely.

tommorow I will force some fades to see what kind of a difference it would make.

so far so good with it though!

Holy crap!!! That is Tiger Woods. I guess he got tired of hanging out on his cruise ship, driving buicks, and looking at his hot wife. He finally made it to the Sandtrap!!!

Does anyone have experience with the simulator at Golf Galaxy? That one seems to be pretty accurate.

Sorry to disappoint you, but it isn't Tiger. He's only a +8.

I believe it is very much like the one at the Dicks near me. It seems dead on.

Great.......

Now we can expect a whole bunch of exasperated posters whose abilities are doubted claiming that their 310 yard drives with a baby draw have been "confirmed" by their Launchpad Simulator. A ball attached to a sick that rotates is a toy. And if anyone quotes this nonsense: "Golf•Launchpad™ is the premiere golf simulator for PC/MAC that's been compared to $10,000+ simulators for feel and accuracy." they aren't saying by whom or whether it compares favourably. Compared to a $10,000 simulator It feels like hitting a tennis ball with a hole in it.

I may be mistaken, but I believe Birdieman was referring to his above post, not the golf simulator:

ok, might have messed up my handicap. so if i typically shoot around a 78 - 81 that would have me at -9?

i am kind of new to the handicap thing.

For the record I believe the Launchpad uses sensors in the pad to pick up club speed, path, and face angle. The ball on the rope isn't even necessary.

I was considing getting a Launchpad to work on my swing flaws. Instead I am using a homemade dual trace swing trainer, which also tells me path and face angle, and was much cheaper. I would still consider the Launchpad if I could get a PC version cheap.

Basically a red and green LED mounted perpendicular to the clubface. I "invented" it and made my prototype and then found out that it already existed as a product (Freddy Connect swing trainer). As you swing the club (in dim lighting) you see two paths or traces, one green and one red. If the two paths overlap and are online with the target at position of the ball it means you are square/square. If the lines are separate at that point it means your clubface is open or closed (you know which depending on which color is on top). If the lines are overlapping but pointing left or right of the target line then it would be a push/pull.

There is a video on the web about making your own, you can google it pretty easily.

    • I'll say again… you have a different definition of "temporary" and "speed" than I do. For your handicap to go up FOUR shots means you were through the soft cap and approaching the hard cap. If you did it over 15 rounds (leaving five potentially lower scores), then you played REALLY bad golf over that stretch because it's likely that only three or four of the best of those 15 rounds were actually counted, so if the three or four best scores RAISED your handicap five shots (three at 100%, 2 at 50% once you hit the soft cap), then that's some BAD golf over an extended (not temporary) period of time. And here's the thing… play 15 good rounds, or even just EIGHT, and it'll DROP again, even faster. Handicaps still drop faster than they rise, not only because of the way we calculate it (best 😎 but because of the caps. Right… it's not like you're not needing the shots. You're playing really badly, and your handicap is still lagging behind your play.
