A little off topic but I saw an aerial view of Fenway the other night and let me tell you something... that is baseball (even if I here allot of people say that its a "shithole")...I was literally getting goose bumps looking at that view.

It's a shithole and a great place to watch baseball at the same time. The first time you walk in towards the field, you have to do it form the first base side so you can walk up with the monster in left field staring at you. That part's pretty cool, but the obstructed views, lack of parking, wrenched necks, and tiny (and wooden, in some places) seats suck. And I tease the Tampa fans only in jest. Soccer is the world's #1 sport, after all. ;-)

I'm jealous, I hope to get up there someday. I wish I coulda seen the real Yankee stadium as well, my brother in law grew up there and said it is awsome.

Tampa needs a real outdoor stadium near downtown or the team will eventually move. Β Something like Camden yards, which is a great stadium. Β I can't understand why the Orioles can't draw bigger crowds. Β Maybe the cost of tickets?

Nothing will save the rays from moving and outdoor stadiums will not work in florida. It is either too hot or there would be more rain outs than MLB can handle. I am no fan of thw rays ( basically because their fans are morons), but ownership has done everything possible to make a trip to the stadium affordable (as long as it is not the Yankees or red sux in town)

I have to say that when they build a new stadium it will have to be either a dome or a retractable roof, it gets way too hot down here and we also have entire weeks of nothing but heavy rain in the afternoon. That being said I think that spring and October baseball here would be awesome outdoors.

You can always tell when the Yankees are not doing well because all of the Yankoff fans do nothing but whine and bitch, they stop showing to games at home and they try to belittle the fans of other teams... Amusing I'd say :)

Finally got to see a game there for the first time last season.Β  We were staying at a hotel downtown and got on the wrong subway, and ended up getting off the train somewhere quite a bit south of the stadium and had to hoof it from there.Β Β When we got close and caught sight of the place we were coming in from behind centerfield.Β  Did a counter-clockwise loop to our seatsΒ  (down near the field just past the right field foul pole), and all I can say is I had severe chills and goosebumps the entire time.Β  (PS ... very much NOT a Red Soz fan, for the record) ;)

I have to respectfully disagree with this one.Β  I know a lot of Yankee fans, and I don't know a single one of them who does this.Β  I know of a few Met fans, however, that fit this bill.Β  It strikes me as sort of a little brother chip-on-the-shoulder sort of thing they got going.

Example:Β  If you go to a baseball game at Citi Field, I can almost guarantee you that at least one (more likely, several) "Yankees Suck" chants will break out ... when they aren't evenΒ playing the Yankees. I've never heard it happening the other way around.

(Not sure what it's like in Tampa cuz I've never been there :))

I have very close friends that are Yankee fans. Β I can get them riled up by referring to the team Β as "The Best Team money can buy!"

Which would just show your lack of baseball knowledge. Look back in history and see which teams signed the first million dollar player, first 10 million and first 25 million. The answers may surprise you.

How does that prove anything? I couldn't care less about team payrolls (the Red Sox throw around money nearly as much as any team), but the Yankees have had the highest opening day payroll in the league every year dating back to 1999, and quite often by large margins. I didn't think the fact that the New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Boston teams throw money around was up for debate.

Derek Jeter is the worst defensive shortstop who has played regularly, like, EVAR.

I found that out today.

Funny how that works huh?Β  Guys like Jeter and Nolan Ryan and Cal Ripken and Reggie Jackson get elevated to a status well above their actual numbers.

There is a big difference - people like to throw stones at the Yankees for taking care of their own. No one can say they *bought* titles with players that started and finished their careers with the same team.

Boston fans always want to play the *holier than thou* card.

Were the roid brothers that brought the World Series to Boston homegrown talent? Or the bankrupt bum with the fake bloody sock?

How are Pujols and the drug addict faring with their big deals in Anaheim?

I am pretty sure that Bernie Williams, Posada, Jeter, Rivera and Petitte were not bought from other teams.

Brian Cashman has just done a better job on complimentary players than his competitors.'

Theo did one hell of a job with Gonzales (we play too many night games), Crawford, Beckett, etc (and was fortunate that the Dodgers had money to burn to bail them out)

Honestly, the biggest crime is owners like the one in south florida pocketing his revenue sharing cash and doing to the marlins as he did to the expos.

Bottom line, cry about the big, bad Yankees all you want - but without them - all of these second rate cities would not have a pro team.

Your doing exactly what I said that Yankoff fans do, whine and bitch. GD even tries to defend tour like but you completely blew that up. I think that the funniest part about all this is that if you (meaning anyone) will read this thread from the beginning you will see that I pegged this guy as a yankee before he even said as much which only proves my point the majority of Yankee fans, they are usually pretty easy to spot (or hear). I understand what GD was trying to say about yankee fans but I think that maybe we just get the worst ones down here. They tend to think and act like they own/invented baseball when in reality I've forgotten more baseball than this dip**** will ever know. Hell I even made a point to say that beantown has a great history and was and is paramount to the success of the game. I even made a point to say that old Yankee stadium was pretty much the holy grail of baseball and yet he felt the need, like many jackoffs (I'm done with the clever names), to spew his disdain for people who "lack knowledge" of the game.

Disclaimer: I'm not saying that every fan of any other team is a prick, but this one certainly is. My brother in law and his Dad are still huge Yankee fans but more than anything they love to see good baseball.

Did you even read my post? I explicitly said, " I couldn't care less about team payrolls (the Red Sox throw around money nearly as much as any team) ," as in, spend as much ****ing money as you want.
