But I don't need precise control over my broom to return it on plane.  Maybe he will do it, it just doesn't look like it would be comfortable to me without seeing it first-hand (or trying it myself) with that long of a putter.

I would definitely label Daly in the "clown" category (not necessarily for his clothes, although that doesn't help).

If anchored putters are so great surely everyone would use it. Since not every one uses one then I don't see how it is a proven advantage so I say he is not cheating.

How about asterisks next to anyone who uses metal drivers, these are now universally used so there must be a benefit that is proven otherwise no one would use them!!! just kidding!

If long putter are easy to use then why wouldn't the big manufacturers force their players to convert and win and then reap benefits from increased sales? Imagine if Mickleson broke his major drought with a long putter and then said that it really helped, every second golfer would have switched. Woods has not won a major for a long time, imagine if he now switched and won, I bet Nike would sell a ton of long putter tomorrow.

This is a misconception.  The long putters/anchored stroke is often an advantage over the normal stroke only for players who have trouble with the normal stroke .  They don't offer any advantage for players who can already putt well using the traditional style.  This is all that is meant when the work "advantage" is used in connection with this issue.  Players who use this method do so not because it makes them better putters than the next player, but because it makes them better putters than they were with the standard method.

I agree with this. I've tried out long putters, absolutely hated them. Now if my normal putter was going terrible, or if I god forbid develop the yips, then I would force myself to learn something new.

I see no reason not to like Scott, even if Stevie is his caddie.  Scott carries himself well and as long as an anchored putting stroke is legal, he shouldn't be penalized for using it.  He's a smart guy and while I don't like Stevie, he's probably one of the best caddies on the Tour so kudos to Scott for taking every advantage available to him to win.

I don't dislike Scott, as far as I can tell.  I root against him heavily, but it's mostly because of his caddie and his putter.  I find him to be extremely professional, knowledgeable and generally likable otherwise.  And obviously he's a great golfer, to boot.

There was a time, like maybe 5 years ago (?), when he was ranked #2 in the world and I used to root for him.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
