Bad Idea: Wisconsin golf course's $9.11 offer for 9/11 hits a nerve on social media

People are being waaaaaaay too sensitive on this one.  It was 12 years ago, move on.  What we Americans whine about as being the worst day in our history is a day to day fact of life for people in some parts of the world.

Its not if you get over it or not, its being tactful. If they wanted to do things right, then offer free rounds for Local fire fighters in honor of the heroes who wet up that tower to bring people out. Or host a golf outing to raise money for the victims.

You don't commemorate a number specifically chosen by the Terrorist because they know its our number for emergencies. There's a reason why they chose 9/11 as the day to attack America. I get the golf course might have tried to make things better, their intent might have been in the right direction, but it was poorly done.

I don't know where to go with this. Just acknowledging the date, like pearl harbor etc would seem to me, say to those involved: "Look at the stain we left on America."

These two statements sum up my stance on this:

What if on December 7th, 1953 this course offered free Arizona Iced Tea with every Teriyaki Torpedo Bomber sandwich at the club restaurant?  You think people would have been offended?  Maybe, maybe not.  But it is still bad taste.

Its amazing these days how people crow about their own freedom of expression but are so quick to get offended by every little thing.  It would be nice if, just for once, people got upset about something that actually matters.

People need to get over themselves for sure.  I a former soldier and am on a base in Afghanistan that took 10 mortars on 9/11 (and 2 just an hour ago). I would be asking where this course was and go tee it up there and round up as many of my police, military, and firefighter friends as possible.
