Nicklaus also said in his book golf my way that if you want the ball to go a long way you have to hit it hard. and hes the best golfer who ever lived besides moe norman. so im hitting hard from now on.

I would like to give this comment 26 thumbs up, but we're not supposed to use reputation points in a sarcastic manner. So I'll just say gitafterit. I hit a PW that flew about 165 on Sunday. I had a thick lie in the rough so I swung about as hard as I could, but the ball just squirted out. I guess 165 is my new wedge number now. Should I be on tour?

Swing as hard as you can while keeping your balance perfect. A few months ago I was so grooved I could swing 100 percent and I knew it was close to the fairway. Of course there are exceptions, steve stricker always seems to fall a little back but whatever

When my swing feels good, I feel like I can swing as hard as I want down with my arms. I get into trouble when I start spinning out my hips and loosing balance.

No matter how hard you swing, it should not be at the detriment of good golf mechanics.

My mechanics are fine. At least my fundamentals. I aim fine, my stance is fine, my grip is correct, and my setup is perfect. My swing consists of a backswing and a through swing. Only 1 percent of golf is the swing. The rest is setup. Jack Nicklaus said that the setup is 99 percent of shot making. And I agree. When you aim way left even if you make a perfect swing the shots going left. If you aim at the target then most likely with a bad swing your shot will go closer to the target than aiming way left.

Another point I'd like to make is that Moe Norman was the best golfer that ever lived. He aimed at his target and pulled the trigger. He had a strange golf swing which when I try to use I cant get the ball airborne, which proves that the golf swing doesn't truly make a difference. Some say it was moe's swing that made him hit every shot straight, yet when I watched him, he was making the same setup same swing yet he said he would fade the ball and it curved left to right just as he said. i'm not worried about my swing. I just hit the ball with the club. and it gives me great results.

Try this:

Try to top a golf ball on purpose. Then try to thin it. Fat it. Shank it. If you can mishit shots on purpose, then you can strike a golf ball perfectly without worries. I can do anything with a golf ball. my handicaps so high because ive only ever played ten rounds in my entire life, but practiced hiting balls every single day. so my scores will dramatically drop if I play more.

Swinging hard gets the ball farther. its only logical.

Can you slow cook it till it's fork-tender and serve it over pasta with a glass of chianti?

Its nice someone can hide behind the fact he's only played 10 times ever, and claims he's a better ball striker than most other people. To bad golf is a game based on handicap, it sucks to be able to be such a good ball striker and not be able to prove it.

    • So no joke, last evening post work nine must have been the craziest side I've ever played: Bogey, double, double, par, birdie, birdie, birdie, double, birdie. Two gimme birdies, one 15 footer and one bonus bomb from prolly 35 feet on no. 9. Full disclosure, it's a super easy course when greens are running at an 8 with easy welcoming pins. Still, a couple of firsts there. Driver freed me up starting the fourth hole. Anyway, driver notes: 1) anti left left hand grip. 2) no structural bind on hands/grip. 3) left shoulder HAS to get up to chin with humerus completely detached from chest and shoulder socket (feel) Big game tomorrow, aiming to break 80.
