I will be happy with a 92 ... but want to break 90 for the 3rd time this month ...

Ok, so, did you all shoot what you predicted?

Hot weather coming up for the weekend in my area with expected wind up to 12 mph (less than normal).   The condition is ideal for a good score.   I will score two round average of 91 and further reduce my HI.

Weather was hot, and wind was less than 10 mph - a perfect condition for golf.  And I score exactly 91.  I need to score 91 (or less) tomorrow to complete my prediction.

88 today for 89.5 average for the weekend's rounds.  My prediction came true.

Playing 4 straight rounds of golf in the next 4 days - 2 in Reno area, 2 at home course.

Eagle Valley West Course on Th & Fri - low 90s on Th, and break 90 on Fri round

Home course on Sat & Sun - break 90 on both days

Lofty targets but the latest rounds have given me a bit of confidence B-) .

Failed miserably on my last prediction above.  But much has changed since then :-)

I need to play the next two rounds for 89.5 average to hold on to the hard earned 16.8 HI.  What's my strategy?  Keep focusing on each shot with respect to swing keys 1 - 3.

I've been working on getting back to my power fade off the tee and a thread appears on that very subject!  With my transition, I hope to break 75.  Also putting a new putter and stroke in play.  The practice has been going well, so we'll see.

I was not even close with my last prediction.  A swing lesson and subsequent tweak led to a lot of OBs.  The range sessions this week haven't gone well either and I suspect it will spill over to this weekend's rounds on Sat & Sun.  Given the trend, I am likely to score in high 90s on average.

96 on Saturday.   99 on Sunday.  I hope to prove it wrong.

The good news was that I was right on my prediction.  The bad news was that I was right on my prediction.  HI went up almost a full point, 0.9 to be exact.

My latest swing tweak is coming together.   Practice sessions have been better.   I am making more solid contacts.   The focus has been on proper weight shift during swing.  BUT ... I still hit major shanks often enough, read OBs.   I will likely shoot in mid 90s this weekend.  I predict an average of 93 for two rounds to be slightly on optimistic side.

I'll play!

I'll play the last open course in the area tomorrow.  Any day might be the last, although the extended weather looks pretty good.

It'll be in the 40's and windy tomorrow.  The course I'm going to play is a short and easy course, so I should, at least, be in the low 80's.  However, due to the cold and wind, I'll predict 86, and be happy if I get it.

Later,

John

Macgregor Tourney Driver, 5w, 3-4H, 5-PW, 52-58W

Heriko 14 degree Driver (Tee and Turf)

Odyssey Big-T Putter

Made 83 today, so I beat my prediction. I forgot to put my driver in the bag so I drove with my 5 wood on the front nine.  The course only plays 5,500 yards, so it wasn't too bad without the driver.

Good going!   I did what I said I would, too, scoring 90 on Saturday.  It rained in northern CA on Sunday so I could not complete the 2nd round.  I was on pace for 94 before I stopped playing after 11th hole.

These rounds confirmed that my swing tweak is working.  My ball striking is much better.   If I keep practicing the same drills, the swing will stick around and I will be scoring in low 90s.  For my next weekend's rounds, I predict an average score of 91.

    • It’s simple. Hook it onto the tee box of the adjacent hole. Get a GIR with your approach. Birdie hole. #5 Hook it to the adjacent fairway Hit green with next shot. Birdie hole. I call it the Bill Method.
    • I’ll have to pay attention more attention to the area when I’m there. I know the area to the left of the bunkers off the tee is fescue/native vegetation but I can’t remember what’s around the tee boxes. Something to consider still is that you can’t see the green from the tee. You can’t even see all three bunkers IIRC. So I could have a line on the drive but still not know where it ends up. I think I’d be a lot more comfortable going with driver if I played here more regularly and had a log in my head of where shots tend to end up like I do at the other county courses. I have never hit driver on this hole off the blue tees. I have done it from the gold, but the length and angle are different, and during casual rounds when I didn’t care that much about score. I’m not sure the best time to try it is the second hole of a tournament. Or at the very least, I’m uncomfortable with the idea and that’s probably enough reason not to do it. I see what you’re saying. Wind is supposed to be pushing out more to the right on Saturday, too. I could probably aim right at the bunker and not end up in it. I don’t think there’s anything near the green other than that tiny bunker that would give me trouble. Well, trouble in addition to my short game deficiencies that is. Yea, me too. All I’m thinking is get it in play, put it near the green, chip on and two putt for 5. I’ll have plenty of opportunities to use my length as an advantage later. You realize all of this theory crafting will be moot when I chunk it off the tee, right? 😆

    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.
