Just wondering how many bring their wives, girlfriends, or boyfriends out to the course to watch you play

If so do they walk or ride or maybe even play with you? Do they seem to enjoy it?

My ex wife hates golf and would find a round very boring, so I never considered bringing her along. I learned to turn off my cell phone as I was getting calls from her every third round or so.

I've also noticed that on some of the courses have posted signs stating that no spectators are allowed to tag along and watch. It must be a liability issue as they're not paying individuals.

Yeah mine started by going to the range with me just so we could share some time together when I wasnt traveling. Eventually she rode along while I played a few holes, she would bring a little picnic basket with some snacks and her ipod. Then she asked if she could bring a putter and would putt a few holes. Next came the wedge, iron and finally driver.

I certainly don't pressure her to play because I want her to enjoy it. She recently took some lessons with the pro and now she's up to playing 6 of 9 holes.

When we go on a vacation she may ride along or go to the spa. She's more into spending time together than the social or self-challenge. So I don't see her joining a women's or couples league. Either way we're both happy

I got the urge to try playing and my fiance decided she wanted to try, now we're looking at clubs for her (we already got mine).

That is awesome! I am more actively recruiting my significant other to come and play golf with me. She is still in the beginner stage so gets frustrated on the range, but she is one of those gifted few that plays much better on the field than in the range. I know some guys may think golf is one of the last remaining safe havens from the wife, but I think it will also be an important relationship "bonder" in the years to come.

I agree, now if I can just get my out of town mistress to play (I'm kidding of course)

I play with my girl all the time for the past 3 years. In that time she has dropped her cap from 28 to 12. IMO, there is nothing better than getting your significant other into golf, because they cant complain about you always going golfing if they are there with you.

I have gotten my wife to the course only once and she enjoyed it except for the bit of rain that we got while playing. She took pictures and drove the cart for the round and all in all we had a really good time.

My wife plays with me a few times a month. She hasn't worked on it as hard as I have so if we're playing a regulation course we play scramble rules to fight her frustration. On the local par-3 I give her 9 strokes per 9 and we often come pretty close. Truthfully, for as much time as she's put into golf she's doing pretty well. She'll also ride along once in a while if she doesn't feel like playing.

I took my wife with my Saturday and she drove me around (while I played 9). At first I thought is was a big mistake, as she started telling me what I was doing wrong. Like, "You hitting the balls to the left", "too hard"....and I was playing really bad (and I'm a bad player anyway) But later, it started to work out and it was nice. I ended up enjoying having her there.

I highly recommend only taking one or the other. Do not take your wife and your girlfriend at the same time. If you have all three, you have a very serious problem.

I took my wife out with me one day when we were both on vacation and my son was in early morning pre-school. I was playing the early bird special...back nine and a cart for 16-18 bucks and we had a lot of fun. The only thing she didn't like was the bumpy cart ride, as she was several months pregnant. I would like her to start playing, but that will probably have to wait a few years, but I was encouraged that she had a good time and even stated she would have liked to play.

My wife hates golf, so that would be a resounding NO!

What is it that Feherty says in that commercial?
"I would rather sleep with Lee Trevino than play golf with my wife!"
Well I feel the same.

    • Day 7: got out my chipping net and worked on chipping in the living room for a solid 15 minutes. Worked on mostly low shots, but mixed in a couple of high shots as well.
    • Day 228 4-4 More hip/chest turn and wrist arching. Working on hinging wrist a bit later. Foam balls.
    • Day 27 (4 Apr 26) - Worked with grandson on basic pitches/punches in the back yard with varied irons/wedges.  Wrapped up the day rolling some putts on the 30’ carpet I can set up in the yard to give varied terrain - and this carpet rolls almost too easy. A great way to figure a read and know that pace has to be near perfect to get in the hole.
    • A bit of a struggle today.  Just some thoughts/musings.  For the backswing, it is like I am never going to be moving on from this. I don't know if I can ever get to the point where the backswing isn't like over 1.5 seconds in duration. Which is probably not ideal. I would like to get to the point where I can just fling the arms back and up.  I have to feel like my hands are going to hit my right thigh from P1 to P2. If not then they like to move 2-5 inches towards the ball from P1 to P2. Then it's just bad from there. This feeling is my hands not gaining much depth, just maintaining depth from set up. From the DTL view, the hands head towards the camera.  While I am doing that, hinge the crap out of the club with my wrist only. Hinge in a way that the club is pointing at the camera at P2.  From P2, lift the hands straight up. I can get here, and still roll the club inside and get it way too shallow.  With the downswing. There isn't much here. I still can't get the flow of this or the sequencing of this to line up. It doesn't help that hinging from P1 to P2 just throws off my entire timing as well.
    • Day 550 - 2026-04-04 Practiced in the sim at a club for awhile. Did a SW ladder and practiced for awhile with my 7I.
