Welcome, @Oldblu3, we do have room.  I think the rate is $65.

So far it looks like:

1. dsc123, 11.9

2. @divot dave (HC?)

3. @jsgolfer 4.9

4. @RandallT 11.3

5. @kregan 15.4

6. @0ldblu3 24

So I'd say we play from the blue tees, stroke play, using a handicap allowance of 80%.  How does that sound?

The black tees are 73.5/138/6652 while the blue are 70.8/134/6148.

Stroke play is fine with me.  I have only played once this season so who knows what I will do!  LOL

Yea, I really don't know my handicap. I've only been golfing for 2 years so learning to play has been more my concern than keeping score. Last year I had 1 round over 100, most of my rounds in the mid to low 90's, 1 in the mid 80's, and 1 in the high 70's (although that was at small par 66 course. ) Also factor in about 1 mulligan per round into those numbers (sometimes I took 2, sometimes 1, sometimes none). Feel free to ascribe whatever HC you think makes sense given this info.

I just looked up my handicap , and it's 10.8, which is lower than I remembered. Guess I'll update my profile. Or I could just play a few crappy rounds to start the season and watch it go back up again. I usually just play casual rounds with strangers with no bets or little bets with my family/friends, where we play skins or something with no handicap corrections.  So I'm not too familiar with the handicap adjustments for competitions, but I'm interested in learning.

Maybe we call Dave a 16?

The allowance takes into account that its easier for higher handicap players to post good net scores than lower handicap players.  Basically jsgolfer will have to give us each 1 stroke less than he would using full handicaps.

So it would work out such that jsgolfer plays off scratch, randallt and I get 6 strokes, dave and kregan get 10, and oldblu gets 18.  Winner gets mad bragging rights.

Fine by me... even if i don't win the bragging rights, I still walk away with a vanity cap (16!)

@iacas :

Is it possible to create some sort of Mid-Atlantic bragging rights badge that the "winner" of this outing can wear proudly on the site?

I came up with 16 by putting a bunch of scores in a HC calculator.  Something like 85, 90, 90, 93, 93, 95, 95, 105, (based on what you said) using 70/125 as the course rating (complete guess).  I just did that because you didn't give us a number, I'd give you whatever you think is fair.

Also, the badge is a terrific idea.

Sorry, gotta say no to the badge. Currently all of the badges should be "earnable" by anyone. A region-specific badge is not.

Makes sense...

Maybe the winner can change his custom user title to 'TST Mid-Atlantic Champ' or something along those lines.

Hey, 16 sounds fair the way you went about it... I appreciate it. I guess I'm a little too hard on myself when estimating my HC. Question though... did you factor in the mulligans I mentioned?

Nope.  Want to call it 18?

works for me... but if I end up scoring real well... we can adjust it back down to 16... (don't want to earn the "s word" label...) lol

I am bringing my adult son (Jake) as I mentioned back on the 5th page. It didn't look like there were any objections, but he hasn't made it on to the list. Call him JakeStateFarm if you like, all his co-workers do.

Why do they call golf "golf"?  Because all the other four letter words were taken.

Sorry to hear the news, Jerry. Do what you need for family, and we will wish for the best there. Good luck! I think we are 6 tomorrow, right? Weather looks chilly but playable: low 40s at tee, warming into 50s by the 18th. See everyone there.
