Is there any difference between a driver and an iron with SK #2? I cannot find a video with #2 demonstrated with a driver. All I find are

demonstrations with irons.

Same, weight forward at impact is still a key for the driver.

The difference being the ball is much forward in the stance. So instead of catching the ball descending, you are catching the ball ascending.

Yes, it's different.

Weight (and force) still has to get forward, but it's not as important that it get as far forward or forward as quickly. It can also be done a bit differently - a more aggressive thrusting or jumping (lead leg) can get the pressure farther forward (perhaps still not as much as with irons) without the weight (mass) being as far forward.

For example (just an example, not a model or anything):

Club Weight (Mass) Forward Pressure (Force) Forward
6I 75 95
Driver 55 75

With the driver, the head doesn't have to be centered (it can be and is often slightly back of center), etc.

Why?

Because the ball's on a tee, so low point control becomes less important. We can have a low point behind the golf ball instead of in front of it.

@iacas I know you've mentioned in the past that the driver swing is slightly different than the iron swing, but is that something a person should be actively working on?

You won't love the answer, because it is… "That depends."

I have trouble with this using my driver. Sometimes, when I don't get my weight forward enough, I find that my finish is poor, and I usually swing to hard. So, I focus on making a Smooth swing with good tempo, and try to finish well. When I do that, more often than not I make decent contact, and the ball goes somewhat straight.

    • Wow, largest ever 36-hole lead at the Masters. Seems good. I don't really have much to add, but I'm having a great time nursing a cold by watching this tournament.  I doubt Rory fumbles this one, but you never know. As a fan, I hope he can close this out with two rounds to go.  I saw a funny comment somewhere where someone said Bryson should try to 3D print himself a green jacket.
    • Day 234 4-10 Blending hip/chest rotation backswing work and wrist arch in downswing. Pause at the top and slower swing. Recorded and hit foam balls.
    • Day 2, April 10 2026.  After watching today's excellent Masters broadcast, I have hit 18 balls, one at a time, each after doing the pelvis limiting drill.
    • Day 33 (10 Apr 26) - Played in the club Friday shootout with a slight twist as the course was setup for tomorrow’s local “Masters” one day tournament.  The pins were in some slippery places and the greens firm and bouncy.  Overall made for staying the process all the more important especially on the greens.
    • Rory up by six - makes me wonder if the powers that be will adjust Augusta’s moving day setup to be uber tough or uber getable to get a few closer.
