Pretty sure that's not legal for play.

Good luck never missing a putt inside 10' because of that… :)

They don't seem to be advertising at something legal for play though.

The LEVELHEAD is a Great Golf Putting Training Aid Tool and Would make a Wonderful Golf Gift for anyone who wants to improve their game!

I personally like the digital level I have, but I can see how this can be used as a quick and dirty way of confirming my read while playing my practice rounds.

If it works accurately do you not believe this could be a good training aid in a practice round?

I would be cool if they had marks on the top of it that gave you a read number like % slope  In that regard it would be a great training tool for putting and Aimpoint.

How about for the guys that don't know aim point, this at least gets them going in the right direction in terms of putting toward the left side vs the right.. I think there is even an app in iPhone to give slope %, but anyway I won't be buying one of there! :)

If only the slope at the hole, or even throughout the length of the putt was the same as it is at the ball..... ;-)

The issue with the small bubble levels like this one and the one Matt is referring to is they are susceptible to minor variations in the green.  Also, they are hard to read unless you get close.  A digital level is longer and will be less susceptible to minor bumps in the green.  Plus my old eyes can read it!

Very good point.. I stand corrected.

when I am feeling the green with my feet I am doing it over a relatively large area and thus remove doubt as to which way the green is tilting and by how much.

Yeah, I have the original AimPoint Bubble and I wish I had of ponied up for the digital. Part of the reason is because I've basically switched to 100% Express, which the bubble isn't all that useful for, but I also found that the bubble can give some pretty funky reads.

Yours in earnest, Jason.

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.

    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
