So, I have new decade grips on all my wedges, irons, and 3 wood, due my hands sweating during summer. But, in the last few months, my thumb, index and ring fingers are kinda beat up, in that they hurt, like a paper cut does. Reason for my post is, anyone else experience this..? I'm about ready to get some velvet tour grips, but, throwing away all the $$$ I spent 4 months ago on mine, keeps me using band aids... :surrender:

I'm actually just testing the Sharpro Dual Compounds (one cord and one non-cord) at the moment to see if they're suitable for me so I'll be keeping an eye on this thread too. So far the cord one is tougher on the hands but it's not 'sore' at the moment. The non-cord is nice and soft but I'm not sure how it'll fare in wet winter golf or sweaty summer golf. The next plan is to take a water bottle to the range and soak the grips to test them.

I read somewhere that a lot of time the issue with NDMC's or corded grips is club slippage from bad technique but I don't have a clue if that's true or not. Makes sense though as I used to wear through glove palm pads and thumbs like crazy before I improved my technique a little.

I've used NDMC for a long time.  They are great grips, but they do cause more wear on the hand.  i would feel it on the inside of my left and right index fingers, on my right thumb and at the tip of my right index finger.  Not a callus, but more like chapped skin.  I wore tape on the index fingers (like wearing a ring) to reduce the wear.

I recently tried Pure DTX grips.

They have excellent feel and are a little easier on the hands.  I sweat, a lot, and they seem to work 95% as good as NDMC in that regard.  They have nice texture and wipe down well.

I have the multicompounds on all my clubs except my new wedges and I like them quite a bit just because they're a bit for grippy when dirty. I can really feel when I get dust or dirt on the tour velvet grips because it gets slicker (which came on the Vokeys) but I don't feel it on the NDMC grips.

I don't like playing without a glove anymore though, because otherwise the corded top part will start to wear on my left hand, but I view this as a fair compromise since I always make sure to have at least a few gloves in my bag at all times and it's a more solid grip to me.

dont like new MCND grips.

they are very firm for high swing speeds I beleive.

had them a while on my mizuno irons and had matched my hockey wedges to that.

I changed recently for standard 0,580 on 0,600 shafts tour velvet grips. i copied my vokey mount.

after changing my 56° sand wedge for grooves I found that the standard grip on it was absolutely perfect in size and great in feel.

they are soft on hard hits or agressive chips and grip well. I wash and/or sand my grips if a bit slippery and they are like new.

I hadn't thought about this until I came to change the grips on my wedges. Although I had MCND grips on my irons I knew that I had to replace my wedges with like-for-like which were Tour Velvet. Just changed irons and they had Tour Velvet as standard and I can really tell the difference in feel and also wear on my hands.

You can't tell the difference in feel between NDMC and Tour Velvets?

EDIT* Sorry, just reread my post and realized I sounded a bit like an a-hole. Didn't mean for it to a-holish, just surprised you didn't notice a big difference in the 2 grips!

2nd EDIT* Here, I'll add a dancing banana!

Sorry...my post is not entirely clear. The point is that I do feel the difference...Tour Velvets have so much more feel than New Decades to the point that all my irons are now fitted with Tour Velvets.

Has anyone tried the non-cord version? I'm currently trialing the cord and non-cord MultiCompound Sharpro grips which are basically NDMC's.

    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
