Callaway XR released today

I demoed them, too. The only club I ended up liking was the XR Pro hybrid, but I didn't try the irons out. The driver felt whippy to me, I couldn't hit the 3w well at all, and the regular hybrids launched too high at times and I got inconsistent results from it. I guess this line just isn't for me.

I tried out the XR 3W and 3H but did see or feel any reason to replace my X2 Hot woods with them.  I know the XR irons are getting a lot of positive reviews I didn't like the look or feel of the XR woods.  I tested the XR woods against the Titleist 915's and liked the 915's much better which is surprising since I went for the X2 Hot woods over the 913's.

I never played the X Hot or X Hot 2  series of clubs, I've heard they are good clubs. This is my first venture into Callaway clubs. I liked the irons and the regular hybrid, for me they really launched the ball. The X Hot 2 were the same price in Dicks so I went with the new XRs, (irons and a 4 hybrid).

I love my Callaway X2 Hot Hybrids, both the Pro (2 & 4) and Regular models (5 & 6).  I'm surprised that they are the same price, as the X2 Hot hybrids are $50 cheaper?  That's a good deal for the new model.

Picked up my irons, the XRs, and went to the range. Too cold (~20*) to really hit well but the clubs did feel nice. I'm going to take them to an indoor range and practice with them.

Cooke, I'm interested in these irons and would like to know your 7 iron distance normally , which shaft you picked and the flex and what you think as far as control and feel of that shaft.Thanks

Regards your questions, first let me tell you that I'm 63 and have had three back surgeries, the latest last year, so my swing speed is slower than most (I believe). I hit a 7 iron about ~140 yards with my old Ping G15s. On the launch monitor I'm hitting the XR 7 iron ~140 to 145, consistently and straight. Consistency and straight  is what I was looking for, for me distance is a nice to have.

In any case, the shafts are Callaway's Project X 5.5 Regular flex. I tried the "light" shaft and found no discernible difference. During the fitting process we found lie and shaft length to be "Standard" (hitting on a strike board, etc.).

Since then I have taken the clubs to the range and the launch monitor was correct. I'm hitting ~145 yards but more important I'm not hitting them fat. They really feel great, on most strikes you can't even feel the ball. And by the way, this is at a range hitting range balls that are frozen. I'm really interested to see how real balls on warm days react.

So bottom line, I really like the clubs. I also purchased a 4 hybrid which is unbelievable.

Give them a try, I think you'll like them. The look and feel really fit my swing,

Purchased a XR Hyrbid 25 w Fubuki Alpha X Shaft -- First range session -- it's impressive in terms of forgiveness and zip. Can't judge distance yet. Need to get to course.
