If a player has hypertension, unless he gets a waver by the PGA Tour, then he has to just deal with his hypertension with out the use of Beta Blockers while being a PGA Tour player.

Wassat?

Will this work?

Lol! Yeah....that sounds legal. Sorry....we're not gonna allow you to play golf because of your heart issues. I don't know the rules myself.... I was responding to your incorrect statement about beta blockers not being used for anxiety. I'd like to see the PGA ban somebody for a medical issue. Good luck.

I never said Beta Blockers were not used for anxiety.

Usually with sports you have to have a doctors note per say to be allowed to use a banned substance. That also depends on the rules on which drugs are allowed for medical purposes.

I know in football certain drugs are allowed if they are for a medical condition. I am not sure about Beta Blockers and the PGA Tour. If they are outright banned, then people with hypertension are out of luck.

Well doesn't matter. The poster is not a PGA tour player. If a guy has performance anxiety, nothing wrong with using beta blocker to help. Millions of people use them. Lighten up Francis.

Thank you all for the very helpful tips!

I've adjusted my routine now.

Before, I would take 1 practice swing next to ball, and one behind, step up and hit it.

Now,  I take one very light swing behind ball, step up and hit with very little time in between. Helps me stay dead focused for a few seconds, hit the ball without overthinking it, then moving forward and playing the ball from where it ended up, good or bad.

I've been doing a much better job of trying to hit the perfect shot,  and just keeping it in play and making the best out of my situation.

Since then I've shot,

40,38,39,36.

Good tournament scores for 9 holes, and I'm very happy that now I'm making much better results out there!

I am the same!

At the range ill hit these beautiful straight shots with a nice sound to them. I will go to play a round at my local 9 hole course, and immediately ill feel nervous and tight. This will result in thin/fat shots. I also noticed a reoccurring "theme", where i would miss hit on the first hole and be like "oh, first hole is over with !" ill then feel more loose and make a nice shot on the second hole. Then maybe a nice one on the third, and by the 4th hole, ill be tense and nervous once again and hit a fatty. One thing i try to do is to get exited and nervous when going to the range, and to mimic the course feel. Then, ill try to hit a good shot while feeling nervous.. seems to work for me.
