I wonder if repeated heel hits can cause a head to come off/put extra stress on the lower shaft?

I don't know about the repeat heel hits, but he hit the ball directly with the shaft, not even the clubface...

Now I'll be scared to mishit my driver :-)

I purchased a set of "clones" years ago and a couple of the heads snapped off after a year or so.  When I investigated the manufacture had put a "nick" into the graphic shafts in the process of roughing the shaft for epoxy thus creating a stress point.  Graphite is good stuff but requires some caution in use and assembly.

The camera angle is off, but he definitely appears to have hit the ball close to the heel. I have broken three driver shafts in the exact same spot and I was told that type of heel shot will do that. Maybe excess vibration at the tip of the shaft causes it to fracture?
