Sounds about right, from what I've seen and heard.

Bubba addressed it in a classy manner.

Bubba Watson addresses unfavorable ESPN player poll: "I'm glade it came out"

By Alex Myers

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- On Monday, ESPN released a player poll that indicated Bubba Watson isn't very popular among his fellow PGA Tour pros. On Tuesday, the defending Masters champ managed to spin this in a positive way.

"I take it as I need to improve as a man," Watson said during his pre-tournament press conference. "I take it with pride. I need to get better."

In the survey of 103 golfers, Watson's name came up the most when asked which player you wouldn't help in a parking lot fight. Watson acknowledged he was one of the pros asked and that he named himself since he didn't want to call out another player.

"I've never been in a fight in my life, so if I was in a fight, it was my fault. I caused somebody to get angry. So yeah, I wouldn't help myself either," Watson joked.

I am curious, how has someone as polarizing and emotional as Bubba never been into a fight!?

Maybe that murderous stare backs people down

I think guys like him get to the point where they have heard enough negativity about themselves from folks around them that they become numb to it.  It may bother Bubba that he is not well liked on tour, but his personality probably tells him who cares because he has won two majors, is wealthier than most guys on tour, and ranked in the top 5.  His ego is a big reason why he is such a good player.  He can be so emotional at times and then be a complete a$$.  Tough guy to figure out.

It's just Watson's turn in that particular "not well liked"  barrel. Several players have preceded him holding that honor. Figjam, Sabbs, and even Woody have been not well liked by some of their pro golf buddies.

From some of the stuff I have seen, and read, not being liked by some of his fellow PGAers, is not something he needs to worry about. Some of them will probably win the  next survey, and wind up in the same barrel. I did like his retort to the issue.

At least the survey contained some more interesting stuff. I especially like their opinions about the Masters.

I'm not surprised Bubba isn't well liked by his peers and I was impressed with his answer to the tough question he was asked.  It's one thing to say you know what you have to do and another to do it.  I think Bubba is a very good golfer and if he could change the perception peers and fans have of him he could earn a lot more endorsement money.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
