I actually won the free contest last week for the Shell Open With them. Beat out almost 3000 ppl. Won $50 ,letting it ride in the Masters contest.

I usually put down a $3.00 team for each tourney (cheap I know)

I'm doing pretty well this year but don't think I'm lucky enough for the millionaire maker so I put down 6 different squads at $3 instead of 1 shot @ $20. I like my chances better that way, plus It will be hard for me to be totally out of it by Friday afternoon :)

The Masters is the tourney I book off work to watch and usually try to catch every single minute, to me it's like 4 days of Christmas :)

Congrats, I didn't see the free one ? Dam...  I was trying hard to get into the 5300.00 entry fee contest. I am in, several times, probably go in a total of 10 times for 200.00

I won a 181 player and it paid 300... Had you entered a real contest with 3000 people, you do know, you would have most likely won 15K ? 1st place out of 3000 people is awesome....

for the most part to win in the $10-$15 thousand range on a $2-$3 bet, there is close to 100k people in the contest. Seems almost impossible to me to win. But someone does.

I like the 27$ buy in.... I noticed a 20$ one this past weekend that had a guy in first place  - 24th place after round one.  Those were his 45th - 60 plus entries. People are playing huge bucks on this stuff... Strange to look up and see a name like firstshot (1) firstshot (34) and so on. Kind of crazy and those guys are addicted. There are people making a living off of the other sports.

Entered. I think if you put $25 in, you get $25 free (they match from $25 up to $600 it seems).

Erik J. Barzeski —  I knock a ball. It goes in a gopher hole. 🏌🏼‍♂️

Entered. 7 1/2 more hours to get your picks in.

What!? I checked last night and they were sold out. Didn't get in :-(

Can't believe I waited till last minute. Oh well.

This would have been my lineup. I hope they get mediocre points so I can just say...well didn't matter anyway!

Edit: I just entered the $400k one, 1st place wins $100,000. It's not 1 mill...but its fun nonetheless.

    • It’s winter here and time hitting at my indoor place.  This year I bought and sold a few sets so I didn’t settle in on anything. For this coming season, starting now I have a choice to make.  What set would you guys use? 1.  Nike Vapor Pro irons - They are like new, hit them some last year before I had to demo other sets.  I love them, original grips, barely used so I’m almost not wanting to use them to keep their value up.  Standard LLL and standard grips. 2. Taylormade P7TW irons - Still in the box.  Got them over a year ago but had too much to hit, never used them.  Have used a set in the past and loved them.  Ended up with my own set custom fit to me -1/4”, 1 degree flat midsize grips.  These are probably not as valuable because they are still available and they are fit to me. I hate to put the Nikes away but it makes more sense to save them than the TW’s…. I dunno….
    • Day 215 (3 Dec 24) - Another very chilly day - opted to work on easy pitches in the backyard. Worked thru the irons and wedges - focused on foot position and tempo.
    • Yes. I believe in using the same ball all of the time, including chipping and putting practice. I use the orange Callaway Supersoft.  Only $25 per dozen, and sometimes on sale for $20.
    • A 5400 yd course is not that short for gents driving it 160 yards considering the approach shot lengths they are going to be faced with on Par 4s.  Also, for the course you are referring to I estimate the Par 4s have to average longer than 260 yds, because the Par 5s are 800 yds or so, and if there are four Par 3s averaging 130 the total is 1320 yds.  This leaves 4080 yds remaining for 12 Par 4s.  That is an average of 340 per hole. Anyway, if there are super seniors driving it only 160ish and breaking 80 consistently, they must be elite/exceptional in other aspects of their games.  I play a lot of golf with 65-75 yr old seniors on a 5400 yd course.  They all drive it 180-200 or so, but many are slicers and poor iron players.  None can break 80. I am 66 and drive it 200 yds.  My average score is 76.  On that course my average approach shot on Par 4s is 125 yds.  The ten Par 4s average 313 yds.  By that comparison the 160 yd driver of the ball would have 165 left when attempting GIR on those holes.
