say I have a weak grip on the club with my left hand (righty golfer) and I put my right hand on top of the shaft almost cover the left hand, do you think it would cause me to come over the top?

You can have a strong grip and still do an over the top move.

Could you show a picture of your grip from different views (preferred 90 degree, orthogonal views)?

Can certainly make achieving Key #3 more difficult and cause the club to "swipe" across the ball.

hmmm. thanks for that link mvmac, my grip is no where close to that. before this year the club would go from my pointer finger tip and the under the thumb heel pad, then my right hand would go over almost my left pointer finger. this year I moved the club closer to my fingers and noticed better face contact but still not like what I just looked at. I will be trying it Friday. thanks, Tom

Keep working on getting your grip stronger, it will be uncomfortable and may mess up your swing but don't give up.

ok ok, I tried the grip today, it worked great. I hit 250 balls, my first I would say 50 balls was just to get adjusted to the new grip. one thing about the grip MVMAC posted is that it puts you in a very powerful feeling at setup. now for my answer to the question about grip and over the top. with my old grip I had a vary hard time turning around my right hip, with the old grip I was always on my toes. today after 75 balls I started to hit left hooks. and was having a hard time stopping the left hooks from happening. at this point with my set up feeling stronger I decided to try some practice swings with my 4w and trying to keep my weight on the inside of my back foot (I have always struggled with this, when I walk I walk on the outside of my feet.) well after 2 practice swings I could see the club head coming from the inside, I found it easier to get my weight to shift to the inside of my back foot, also found it easier to stand taller to the ball. well the moment of truth, 4w in hand, the new grip, new thought of weight to inside of right foot. I set up to the ball full of convidence with a worrie of coming over the top. I take my swing and look up at the ball...... it's going out to the right, then it softly turns over left and and keep turning left until it reached its peak and came down softly where I was aiming. so the ball started right came back to the left and landed in target area. hmmm did I hit a draw, I'm sure it wasn't pretty looking swing but it was a ball flight I may have seen 100 times out of a million swings. WTF! ok ok I tell myself, relax, that's the last one I will see for a while. I set up again, take my swing, yup this one is a miss hit, but, the ball starts right comes in a little and stays right, I think I hit a push shot because it was not a slice. I hit many shots from wedge to driver to wedge today. and because of this new grip that some how changed my ability to transfer my weight to the inside of my back foot, what my eyes saw today was almost every ball going right to left and landing near my target line. draw? I don't know but I like what I'm seeing. Im thinking a proper grip can help with the body setup that helps with the transition of the swing. i even tried coming way over the top today, I did reach the hosel of the club but I almost fell backwards on my ass. weird I realy can't describe it in words, but using the grip that mvmac posted, then using what my instructors taught me about the swing every thing is coming together. I just wish my instructors showed me the grip because I thnik I wouldn't be posting this. :) thanks, MVMAC & SANTRAP. $$$$$$$

    • I have that club and absolutely love it!
    • Have a 19° (moved to 20.5°) Titleist 915H. I just love the club. Beautiful feel off the sweetspot, high launch, soft landing. Versatile. In the future, with less overall speed I will replace my 4 and 5 irons with another hybrid, something around 26°.
    • Broke the head of a Stealth Plus on a warm up. TaylorMade send me a new head but I decided to upgrade it to the new IQ10 LS and pay the difference. While I was waiting for the 8° head to arrive at the store I messed around with all the multi brand putts they had available. I instantly liked a black TaylorMade Spider, not the new one but very similar. The weight felt perfect. Big line in the middle for easy alignment. I was playing and old Zebra so the change in technology and feel was huge. Fast review of both clubs.. Driver QI10 LS. I always hit to ball up in the sky. I was playing the stealth at 7° with a 60g X low flight shaft and I was still hitting it pretty high. With the QI10 playing it at 6° now is almost hard for me to hit it high, with the same shaft the ball comes out lower and with less spin. so I'm really happy with the change. Putter Spider. I love it. It took me an afternoon to figure out how to grip it (it comes with a superStroke grip) but after that it all came into place. More stable on short putts and a good weight to swing smoothly on long putts and with added forgiveness over my old zebra.
    • I have a 2h but we don’t get along anymore. It’s a bit of an abusive relationship - she gives me just enough hope once in a while that things are going to be better and then it’s back to the same old shit. I went to a PING fitting recently with the intention to replace the hybrid with a 5w or something, thinking maybe I’ll be better with a fairway wood than a hybrid. But it turns out the best club I hit that fits in that slot in the bag is another hybrid so I ordered it.
