Good call Rusty.....Gerry's idea of "striping" one is a little different from my idea of "striping" one.

How many times has this guy bladed a 30 yard pitch shot 40 yards over the green? If you are playing for a PGA Tour stop exemption you need to be able to put this shot on the green as a requirement to be on the show.

Ill give the guy credit he hits 3 of the crappiest shots in the world then hits a phenominal one to save par somehow.

I don't know how people can say different people don't deserve to be there. I think Gerry is a nerd and think his short game is horrible, but he made clutch chips to be there. Kevin didn't. Gerry's long game has seperated him from others in the show at times. When he went against the Australian guy and bombed one 375 near the green for an easy 30 yard up and down. That is a skill he has that nobody else has or will ever have there. So as much as Gerry sucks he has a skill set that none of them have or can obtain.

I have watched a couple episodes this season.

Looks like Hiroshi is the front-runner. Then probably Josh.

Sure, Gerry can bomb it farther than the rest, but we're looking for the best golfer, not the longest hitter...

IMHO, Gerry is the black sheep of the bunch from a golf skills point of view. I like Hiroshi and would love to see him succeed, but since he's been front-running for the entire series, I'm rooting for Josh now. Gotta go for the underdog!

They are in Nevada, right. Miss it 30 yards left or right and play from the rocks. IFFFFF Gerry ever made it to a tour and missed it 30 yards left or right, he'd be playing from where he hit his original shot, but adding two more strokes. It would look good coming off the driver like a scalded dog, though, going a long way into the trees.

I am stunned that Gerry has hung arround as long as he did. He seems to pull a shot out of his a** when he really needs to. I think it will likely come to an end tonight, but stranger things have happened. Remember that nut case Pam who made it to the finals of BB3. She was a bomber that was very raw in her overall game, but she made some shots when she had to and advanced past better players.

Well, tonights Big Break was okay... not very exciting. I'm very disappointed to see Brian still in it... the guy is just a major league a-hole. At least Gerry is genuine.

I'm rooting for a Josh v. Hiroshi heads up match.

Well he did say 3 years is what he is shooting for. I think its possible... he has shown flashes of brilliance. His drives are monstrous and I think he just needs to work on his short chipping game. The putting looks average but I don't see it as a large obstacle. Plus, if he can make pars from the top of hills and on rocks then learning the easy shots should be no problem... right?

I'd rather see him on tour over Brian any day. I can't believe he has so little class to berate another person's game on national TV. Not just once, but over and over again... that guy is just one cocky and overweight jerk. Hiroshi is a class act... and I think it is hilarious how Josh keeps saying "gosh" and "dangit". He comes off as a nice person and I like him a lot more on the show now that he isn't wearing those dumb hats during the interviews.

I really couldn't believe that Gerry landed that ball in the water. I think that the three best players are left. I would have liked to see James in the final three instead of Brian but Brian is a very solid player. The final two shows should be great.

I with RussianCarl, I want to see Josh and Hiroshi head to head in the final.

Looked to me like this was the first time the pressure affected both Josh and Hiroshi. Josh had been money to this point.

I like Gerry because I'll hit the same shots he does now and again. No, not the 350 drive, but the topper off the tee and the chunky shot into the bunker. Yikes.

What was that roll that Gerry did on his "fairwell" walk? Nice guy, but he's dreaming if he thinks he can make it on the Sr. Tour.

I'm sure plenty of people had the same thing to say about Tommy Gainey.

I am not going to write Gerry off completely since he is way above the average golfer. However, here is why I will discount his dreams and aspirations: If he wants to be the long bomber then he should have a great short game to accompany it...it is bomb and gouge, not just bomb. If he was lacking mid-iron play (which he is) but could destroy all par 5s and short par 4s then he could obviously make up for his deficiency.

It has been said here and it is the truth, his game is too one dimensional to compete.

Did you guys see that special about him on the golf channel? They showed a tape of his father's swing and it is hilarious. I'm glad to see Gainey got his tour card. I hope he does well.

    • In the old days, pre-2020, "playing to your handicap" meant a net score about equal to the Course Rating.  that led to problems when people played against each other from different tees, people playing tees with a lower CR would generally shoot lower scores.  Course Handicaps were adjusted for each competition to make it even, usually lowering the course handicap for the "forward tee" players. So now if you "play to your handicap", the (68.4-72) term means your score will be even par, no matter which tees you play from.  No adjustment needed for people playing from different tees.  Look at your example, the guy shoots 82 every time, his Course Handicap of 10 gives him an even par net score every time.
