Ok, back on topic please :-)

To be fair, Jenkins is kind of trolling, which is what we got side-lined by here. I'm a big fan of satire, political or otherwise and thought the fictional interview wasn't that bad since I assumed that Golf Digest isn't going to let him say something that would be over the top, yet funny, even in a mean way. If you are going to pull that, I guess leave it to SNL. But how different is Jenkins being than "Jack is Best"? I can see objectively why people might criticize TW. But writing that Tiger beat nobodies is trolling, or at the least not giving credit for beating some deep fields.

Dan Jenkins needs to be put out to pasture.  But not until after he's been horse whipped.

"Witty golf quote."

My grandmother is kind of like Dan Jenkins. She farts in public and uses the term "colored", but she doesn't care because she's old. What's anyone gonna do about it?

You might know I'm not Tiger's biggest fan (to put it mildly), but there was a Masters during the Big Five days when Tiger had the lead on the final day and the other four, Mickelson, Els, Singh, and Goosen, were within easy striking distance. And none of them put a move on him. Woods didn't pull away, either. If one of them got too close, he made a birdie and put himself back where he had been. It was almost as if they were afraid to challenge him.

Anyway, the best four players in golf, after Tiger, had their chance and he beat them all. Period.

This is true. I had the thought after his heinous article last year that perhaps the Masters might ban him as punishment. But no backlash whatsoever. Seems this prick has carte blanche simply because of his age. Frustrating. I don't believe this article rises to the same level as last year's, it's just dumb and people need to stop paying him.

    • It’s winter here and time hitting at my indoor place.  This year I bought and sold a few sets so I didn’t settle in on anything. For this coming season, starting now I have a choice to make.  What set would you guys use? 1.  Nike Vapor Pro irons - They are like new, hit them some last year before I had to demo other sets.  I love them, original grips, barely used so I’m almost not wanting to use them to keep their value up.  Standard LLL and standard grips. 2. Taylormade P7TW irons - Still in the box.  Got them over a year ago but had too much to hit, never used them.  Have used a set in the past and loved them.  Ended up with my own set custom fit to me -1/4”, 1 degree flat midsize grips.  These are probably not as valuable because they are still available and they are fit to me. I hate to put the Nikes away but it makes more sense to save them than the TW’s…. I dunno….
    • Day 215 (3 Dec 24) - Another very chilly day - opted to work on easy pitches in the backyard. Worked thru the irons and wedges - focused on foot position and tempo.
    • Yes. I believe in using the same ball all of the time, including chipping and putting practice. I use the orange Callaway Supersoft.  Only $25 per dozen, and sometimes on sale for $20.
    • A 5400 yd course is not that short for gents driving it 160 yards considering the approach shot lengths they are going to be faced with on Par 4s.  Also, for the course you are referring to I estimate the Par 4s have to average longer than 260 yds, because the Par 5s are 800 yds or so, and if there are four Par 3s averaging 130 the total is 1320 yds.  This leaves 4080 yds remaining for 12 Par 4s.  That is an average of 340 per hole. Anyway, if there are super seniors driving it only 160ish and breaking 80 consistently, they must be elite/exceptional in other aspects of their games.  I play a lot of golf with 65-75 yr old seniors on a 5400 yd course.  They all drive it 180-200 or so, but many are slicers and poor iron players.  None can break 80. I am 66 and drive it 200 yds.  My average score is 76.  On that course my average approach shot on Par 4s is 125 yds.  The ten Par 4s average 313 yds.  By that comparison the 160 yd driver of the ball would have 165 left when attempting GIR on those holes.
