really?  are we talking about the consistency of a ball?  as in ball manufacturing??  cmon, nobody is going to be able to tell if one NXT is different from another NXT in the next sleeve.

Ya "feels like a rock" doesn't match my experience with Q-Stars at all. I've been using the Q-Stars all summer but recently have been switching between them and B330-RX. They feel pretty similar to me and since I've been using the Q-Stars all summer I can predict what they will do on the greens better than the B330-RX balls. Here's a link to a compression comparison for most 2014 balls if you are curious. http://www.golfballselector.com/pdf/GBS_CompressionHardness_Test_070914_v11.14.pdf

Man I have no idea where to begin with reading this chart. My swing speed is 105 and I have only used the qstars and newest e6s. Not sure what compression I need in a golf ball

Just look at the "Majestix Avg" number and the Cover Hardness Avg number in comparison with other balls.

If you know what a Q-Star that measures in the 80s feels like then you can predict what a ball that measures in the 60s or 100s will feel like.

According to the chart the E6 is a softer ball than the Q-Star and there's a big difference in compression between the E6s and E5s and E7s.

I notice soft compression the most with putts and chips jumping too much off the club which causes everything to become a delicate shot.

Bridgestone says that 105 SS is the cutoff between the B330 and the B330-RX balls. My understanding is that if you have a really fast swing speed and use a really soft ball then you'll lose some distance but I'm not sure how much distance. I'm not sure if you would notice any difference in distance between the B330 and B330-RX.

Is it weird that the e6 feels like a rock compared to the qstar?

That's the first I ever heard someone say an E6 feels like a rock.  Any complaints I've heard before about an E6 feel is that it feels too soft.

Edit:  Just went to my backyard and did some putting and chipping with an E6 and a Qstar.  The E6 felt slightly softer for both putting and chipping.

Ya for me the E6 feels softer than the Q-Star. Compression is affected by temperature, so maybe you tried the E6s when it was cold. Or as that other member said maybe the E6s sound different (more clicky) which gets interpreted as harder feel.

As a side note - the only reason I jumped to the defense of the Q-Stars as not "feeling like a rock" is because nobody else I know plays them and I can't figure out why. Maybe it's due to a lack of marketing.

So I went to Dicks the other day to buy some cheaper balls and as I was walking out with the Gamer balls I noticed they have a weird dimple pattern. So I went back and bought some Pinnacle Golds. Yes they were crappy but I shot an 82 which is pretty good for me. About 15 years ago, whenever I tried some ball with new fangled dimple technology it was always a sham and I had to get rid of the balls (couldn't even play them). Has that changed since back then? I've played the E6 and they've been ok for me and they have a little different dimplage.

Diggin the q stars right now and agree that I find the consistency of the prov1 is it's best traight. As far as worst? Any one with glitter on it.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

You must be joking.  You think that there is inconsistency between golf balls?  And if there is, you can notice it.

Let the man have his placebo, haha.

I am really trying to find a ball that I like for a reasonable price (so is everyone else lol). So far, my favorite balls are the Taylor Made Tour Preferred, NXT Tour S, and I sort of like the Chrome Softs but they are a little "too soft" for me as I notice a distance difference with driver and long irons. I really wish Totleist didn't overcharge so much for the NXT's. Do you guys know what balls compare favorably with NXT's? Like I said earlier, the E6's are ok but I can't say that I love them.

Srixon Q Star and Callaway Hex Control are good comparables.

My Uncle plays these. How do you like them?

I switch between them and NXT Tours on a round by round basis depending on whether people in my group are playing Titleist or Callaway so there's less confusion. Same ball for all intents and purposes.

That's good to know. Have you noticed whether Costco still does Titleist balls or is it all Callaway now?
