Who will win more Majors in their career: Rory or Spieth?

Huh? You totally lost me here. Are we talking about the same player? He was in contention in the British Open and Masters at 20 years old. That was bad golf? And if you look at his overall numbers the last two years, he's the model of consistency with the exception of a bit of a string of struggles last summer.

By really good golf I mean #1 (or #2) level of golf, not "in contention" level of golf.  Some people on here are talking double digit majors and before this last half-year there was nothing that showed that that was really possible.  I never said it was bad golf and I certain didn't say that he wasn't consistent.

lol, yeah, 13 1st's or 2nd's before 22. Tiger is second all time with 7. We've seen 2 years of amazing golf from Spieth. No need to degrade what Jordan has done to this point to justify your Rors choice.

I have a remark to the argument that "Spieth is more consistent".

Jordan has played well for a three years on the PGA tour. Has four winns or five if you including Tigers tournement, two of them are majors.

McIlroy has played well since 2009. He has as far as I can see 16 wins, including 4 majors. He has won on the European tour or PGA tour every year since 2009 except in 2013. Last year he won the BMW PGA CHAMPIONSHIP, The Open, WGC - Bridgestone Invitational and the US PGA CHAMPIONSHIP.

Due to this I think it is an exaggeration to state that Jordan is more consistent then Rory.

They are both brilliant players of the game and I am concerned that Rorys game can make him injured. But on the question "Who will win more Majors in their careers", I have to stick With Rory.

I voted Jordan because I enjoy watching him play golf more then Rory. Jordan has made me want to play more and better golf then I have in the past.

Spieth IMO, as others have said he is more cool, consistent and I don't know id anyone else thinks this but I thinks he seem more dedicated. With Rory it's all or nothing, he's either almost totally unbeatable or barley abover average, wheras Jordan can find a way to win or be at the top when not playing at his best.

Both playing at their absolute best however Rory wins every time, there's no doubt about that IMO.

With the way that Spieth is playing right now, I got to admit, he may have changed my mind. He's not the power golfer like Rory but he can managed the course so well that he can put the golf ball where he wants it to make the approach shot or the putt for birdie or par. This guy is good!

After the way Spieth closed out in the JDC, I can see him surging through at St. Andrews (I hope).  Going to the PGA Championship with a chance to see him close the grand slam would be pretty special (humble-brag alert!!).

Rory is so hot and cold.  If he continues this play, I would vote for Rory.  I can see him getting to 10-12 over his career, winning a  few every year or so then not winning for couple years.

If Jordan can keep up any sort of this consistency, then it will be him in a landslide.

I really didn't want to do it.. because I like Rory and he comes from our side of the pond but I had to vote Jordan darn it. I love Rory's swing but he has far too much going on between the ears that hurts his consistency.. a real shame.

If Rory could be more consistent with his putting, he could be more deadly than Tiger Woods ever was. But he just struggles so much with that flat stick, particularly on slicker greens. He has a real problem from 5-10 feet....that was evidenced at Sawgrass.

No. Jordan is much closer to Tiger's putting than his ballstriking. Tiger gained something like 8-10 shots per tournament with his ballstriking during his prime years. Jordan's ballstriking is great, but it's not Tiger-level.

Those stats are surprising. Just from watching him a lot this year, the guy looks like he makes everything from 5-15, at least with clutch putts. Some of those putts on the last day of the Masters and US Open he needed to make, he made. I guess that's what I'm paying most attention to. From 15-25, I guess he really does make everything.

But yeah, totally agree on Rory. If he was a better putter, he would win even more than he already has. He just gets shaky with it a lot, especially on short putts. I still remember the '11 Masters where he was 3-putting greens left and right and couldn't make anything under 5 feet. The US Open this year, same thing. It's amazing he got as close as he did putting as poorly as he did from short range.

Whats funny is this notion that Jordan is a great putter.  It simply isn't true.

Jordan's Tour Rankings:

T108 from inside 5 feet.

87th from 5-10 feet.

84th from 10-15 feet.

Those stats sure don't look like THE BEST PUTTER from 5 to 15 feet.
