Has anyone seen this yet? Looks pretty cool, I like the gps and combination of game golf. I dont know if I would ever use the swing analysis stuff. http://shop.piq.com/pages/golf

I'm interested in knowing how they can measure the path and if it has been tested against TM as a bench mark for the accuracy.. If they could show that study and a 99.9% that would be worth it IMO. Knowing the path helps so much when working on the swing.

I doubt that it can match TM (or any other radar-based launch monitor) in accuracy. I'm not exactly sure how this device would even measure your club path, just your hand path, which isn't quite the same thing. It also seems to clip on your glove, which isn't possible if you don't wear gloves. Anyway, I think it's "worth it" as it is in terms of price, as a GameGolf/Arccos type of device.

I have a gamegolf and a gps watch, I think it would be awesome if I could combine the 2 into one device which this seems to do. But I'm curious if I need to pair it with my phone. Which I like gamegolf and my watch because I don't have to carry or ever look at my phone.

The swing analysis it probably works a lot like 3bays or whatever the swing analyzer is that connects to your glove. I don't know if I would ever use that in a round, though. If I'm playing I don't really want to work on my swing.

I like it, I don't typically wear a glove though so that is an issue. I think that we will see several different releases of these types of items and that makes it great from a consumer standpoint because the manufacturers will try to add in more and more features that will be beneficial.

Interesting idea but not very practical.

1. Tagging the back of your hand is sort of awkward and obvious. (I like that I can use my GG without people taking notice.)

2. How do I track putts and chip when I don't use a glove for them.

3. Losing a glove now costs me $230

4. Gloves can get sweaty and grimy and now so will my new toy

These features just make so much more sense in watch or belt unit because they'll always be with you. Maybe their business model revolves around customers needing to buy replacements?

I was thinking, it looks like it uses a clip, couldn't that clip be placed on a belt instead of a glove? That address all of those issues you have.

Edit ** Although I guess that would defeat the purpose of the swing tracking thing.... Eh well

You're right; has to be 5.4 mm or a little thinner than an iPhone 6.

    • It’s possible the graphite shaft has a small internal crack or a delamination. Tapping it and hearing a vibrating sound is usually a sign the shaft isn’t behaving as it should. Since the store wasn’t helpful, consider taking it to a club fitter or a pro shop that can check the shaft flex and integrity. If it’s defective, you might be able to get a replacement from the manufacturer.
    • It’s interesting how much a 3D system changes your understanding. Observing top players in full detail and realizing the trail knee shouldn’t fully extend is a great example of why being open to new info is so important. I like your approach: not trying to be “right,” but trying to teach correctly based on actual evidence. Makes sense why golfers would benefit from this perspective.
    • I would say both are equally not the best for golf. Is it better than nothing, sure.  Golf is an athletic motion. Professional golfers are doing a comprehensive workout routine focusing on strength, power, flexibility, stability. They might include some yoga into the routine. I would put both of them in the recovery bin, not golf enhancement bin.  If you want to increase swing speed, core strength, longevity in golf and life, then lift heavy weights.
