won a gift card to Callaway, couldn't think of anything else to buy, grabbed one of these to use until I get a chance to get fitted for the Edel Wedges. Got it in the mail last night, sharp looking club. 58/10

played today for first time with the wedge.  It is a great looking club.  Love the lines, very easy to tell if you are square, but it plays better than it looks.  This thing goes through the rough life butter, open it up and it plays just like a higher lofted wedge. The extra hitting area on the club I believe really helps you insure good contact, in the event that you don't hit it flush.

Will be playing again tomorrow, but this wedge at first blush is fantastic.

Update: what a great versatile wedge, I have now taken out my 62 degree wedge and will add a 3 wood or 3 hybrid to my bag. So far this wedge is as good as advertised.

Looks like an interesting club, let us know how it goes. Scoring lines on the face are similar to an Edel.

Got to fiddle around with one yesterday - at address it looks like somebody stuck Edel grooves on a Ping Eye 2 sand wedge.  Not my style.

Right, it's looks like an Edel and an Eye 2 had a baby. I only hit a few shots with it inside but I did like the way it felt. The leading edge sits close to the ground but there is a lot of bounce and the sole is narrowish, kind of like an Edel.

I've heard these are great. I was interested in adding one or two of these to my arsenal but I'm not clear on what to get. There are multiple lofts available. Could someone please explain to me the differences and what applications each are useful for? The Mizuno set I own only have a PW and GW so I'm looking to supplement it. Thanks!

I'd take the highest lofted iron you are using then add either 4 or 5 to the loft to get your first wedge, then go to 4 to 5 increments.

I'd take a look at Ping's website. They have good descriptions of their wedges and grinds.

Agree with @saevel25 that 4 or 5 degree increments are probably a good idea.  I'd take a wild guess and assume your PW is 46 or so degrees and your gap is around 50, so your best options are probably 54/58 or 55/60 or something along those lines.

Just checked the website and they start at 56 ... so if you're set on the PM grind wedges, then I'd recommend a 56 and a 60.

So, this club has been out for about half a year now, and I'm curious to hear what people who have bagged it think after playing it for a while. I'm very generally mulling the idea of it over in my head, probably not for this season, but I'd love to hear how people feel about it having played it for a while. My current 60° is purely a flop shot club because it has only 4° of bounce, so it's not very versatile, and I love the idea of a club like this so designed for opening up, but also with enough bounce to play square. I tried it at Golfsmith yesterday and it's more pleasing to me than when I first saw it. The one thing that strikes me is how dang heavy it is. Has anyone played around with reducing its swing weight?

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
