Hi Guys,

I am 53 and have played this game passionately for well over 20 years now. Could never play with an orthodox grip no matter how hard I tried, hence my "cack handed" grip which works just fine! I now play with TW blades and my handicap continues to improve. At the end of the day it doesn't really matter what grip you use as long as you enjoy this challenging yet wonderful game! And yes it always creates a stir and never ending talking point out there, but who cares? Keep swinging. Tiger from the Seychelles.

Welcome to the forum @Tiger Mondon

I've played before with someone who used the reverse grip and he was pretty good too! I would be cool if you could take a photo of your grip, or even better, a video of your swing with the grip to show other forum members what it looks like. Many have not seen anyone play that way.

Thanks for joining. You may be the only member from the Seychelles too!

I have tried a lot of different grips over the years, but I always return to my original Vardon grip. I even played using Furyk's grip for a while. It work pretty well too. The reverse grip was solid for me also. I like it on the shorter stuff. Right now, while I am learning to play left handed,  I have been using a baseball grip.

Totally agree that  it matters little what grip a golfer uses, or even how a golfer plays as long as they have a good time out there chasing that ball around.

Good for you OP!

I have no respect for people who say this grip or that grip is the ONLY way to play.

Maybe that is only grip you can play with ,

Even though I don't use cack grip(sometimes for putting) and it works for you carry on.

Playing too long to even THINK about going "wrong", "backwards" or "upside-down". Although I WILL practice lefty shots once in a while. The range will have some clubs in a bin for use. I use the lefty to try and feel the release. Since it isn't "second nature" lefty, I can feel the difference and try to transpose it to the righty swing.

Who says that?

We've had strong grips win majors. Weak grips win majors. Josh Broadaway earned his PGA Tour card playing cross-handed…
