404 yards.....First hole at my home course in Kuwait is 389 to the center but the hole is pretty flat. At least a 4 club wind at my back I hit it over the green into the bushes. My best non wind aided drive is in the 315-320 range on more than one occasion.

Matter of fact my avatar is the exact hole.

My longest drive landed at the 321 yard mark at Desert Rose golf club in Las Vegas.*

* It was my tee shot off the 18th tee at my home course in Alberta.

Probably about 25,000 miles by now, hit a wayward drive that landed in the back of a pickup about 3 years ago. I honestly don't know my longest but was able to pace one off to right around 330 but then took about 1 foot of turf before the ball with my second so I guess that made that drive pretty irrelevent.

What shaft do you have in that GPS? I can't get the ball out past 200 with my laser rangefinder, but maybe I need to put a higher launch lower spin shaft in it?

I've been around 320-330 a handful of times (usually with a good roll or bounce), but never anything crazy long.

I almost hit a dogleg right 370 yard par 4 green. I hooked it into the woods, I think it kicked out hard, hit cart path, caught a side slope. I ended up like 20 yards off the front part of the green. It was crazy.

I normally hit it 240, if you can measure the diameter of the half circle, banana like shape the ball takes to the right.  usually a net of about160.....

a couple of weeks ago I straightened it out and am hitting it about 225 with 270 as the long one.  it was a good hit that caught a downhill for a good roll.  Played that day with my daughters BF.  He had never played before so I said let's play from the yellow tee box (one beforel the ladies red).....with my Straight drives and playing a 5600 course, sure made the game more enjoyable.

Legitimate second shots at the green.....

Lol...funny for two reasons

- Two of my two longest drives ever came in Vegas: One when I was playing Bali Hai when it was in really good shape in '02. Hit one ~330 and thought I'd lost my ball until the caddy found it. God knows what I hit to make it go that far. The other day I drove a ~330 yard par 4 here, but I had help from a downslope + wind + possibly a cart path (and maybe a flying monkey....couldn't see the green from the tee)

- Now I live here, so maybe there are more to come???

Longest Drive: In Kapalua the February after Woods/Els (2000, I think) had the amazing finish there, we stepped back to the tips on the 18th everytime we played the Plantation course just for kicks. It's ~650 yards, huge downhill, right-to-left sloping fairway. Hit a big draw that hit, lept forward, and just ran forever. Had 290 left with zero chance of even sniffing the green. That Woods and Els both got home in two a month earlier blew my mind.

my longest was 340 (done last weekend).  no real wind, flat surface.  par 4 400yds.  still only par'd the hole.

my average this season is between 250 and 290.

i would love to go to a desert to see how long i could hit a ball.  it is too humid in south eastern pa this time of year.

The longest flat-level, no wind drive I ever hit was a few weeks ago. On a slight dogleg right of a par 4, I smashed a massive 350 yd drive with my 9.0* Cobra L4V Stiff flex. My furthest overall was a wind aided, extreme downhill drive. It outdrove a 400 yd green and off the back of the green. I found it in the woods behind.

My longest was 320. It was on a dogleg left par 5. A buddy scoped the flag at 350 (it was a 90* dogleg left) and bet me $20 I couldn't make it over the water. The Edge of the water scoped at 305.

I lined up and gave it everything I had, and barely made it over. Ended up getting Eagle on the hole, made a good chip onto the green, just 2ft shy of the hole. I tried a couple of times after that and always ended up just short and in the water. Not sure I could do it again. I average 260ish, so it was a heck of a hit for me.

My buddy who bet me tried to, and he ended up in the water.

Pole Creek Golf Club , Winter Park, Colorado.  The 561 yard, par 5, 9th hole of the Ridge 9.  If you can't hit a 300 yard drive there then you never will.  You are standing on top of a hill at about 8700 feet, looking down the longest hill you can remember seeing on a golf course.  It's pretty steeply downhill all the way to the green, and you feel like you could drive the green.

That doesn't happen of course.  Instead, you swing out of your shoes and pull hook the ball OB left, or push slice it lost in the forest right. Then tee up and play your 3rd stroke with a hybrid to get it in play. I pulled a driver there one time, in the woods but still inside of the OB line, and I played it Tiger style.  My second hit a tree and dropped down in a good lie, still 250 yards from the green.  I hit a 3W to about 5 feet short, then chipped in for birdie.

This is one of several photos I've taken there, the tee at the highest point on the course.  It's the 6th or 7th hole on the Ridge 9.

Probably the longest natural drive I ever hit was a 400 yard par-4 at Pine Forest in Bastrop.  I just felt like really uncorking one, swung pretty much as hard as I could and it ended up at 352 based on the upro GPS mark feature.  Fairway was unusually level, pretty wet from a rain, and conditions were eerily calm.  I wanted to see what I had in me and had the perfect opportunity.  I've hit a few long ones, but one of the most memorable was where I caught the cart path on the roll, it took more than one bend on the path, and dumped out for a short chip on a 400+ yard hole, something like 390+.

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
