My longest drive landed at the 321 yard mark at Desert Rose golf club in Las Vegas.* * It was my tee shot off the 18th te

Sugar Hill, GA to Portland, ME and back again, by myself.

There are a couple good ones for sure, but I suspect most are either one-offs (flukes) or people not understanding the concept of dog leg holes. I encourage taking people's claims at face value, but g

Right around 230 yards (about 220 in the air). That was really good for me, although a lot of credit goes to the conditions at the time. Normally I'm in the 200 - 210 range when I'm hitting it well.

330 yards. I had 25 yards to the pin on a hole that measures 380 yards. It's a very slight dogleg (10 degrees or so) and the pin was just up from center (say, five yards tops), so that's my best guess.

In the air? not sure but after the roll I have ended 330 yards on a down hill par 4. I was just left of the green on the fringe. Best feeling you can have. My partner though Hit his drive past the hole! I Usually hit my drives no farther that 260.

Mine was 380, down hill, down wind. I actually did not hit it that well and hit it a little high, but that actually helped due to the wind. I was 160 out on a Par 5 after that one.

My longest without any assistance from wind or hills was 270.

No, not in the air. Probably about 300 in the air, honestly. It's a flat hole, too - I've hit longer drives on downhill holes, but I don't consider counting those fair.

No wind the day I hit that drive, either.

The farthest drive I've ever measured out, and by that I mean subtracted distance from the green from total hole length, was like 265 I think. That sucks.

Why does that suck? That's quite a respectable number, particularly for an amature (as a matter of fact, that's 5 yards longer than the PGA Tour average drive in 1993 - and those guys managed to score pretty well with that, I understand). You should be very proud!

Im sure i have hit at least 1 300 yarder but i have never measured that, Although I have not hit the 300 yard mark yet i have came close. This year ive hit two 296 yard drives, no wind. And also i have hit a 295 yard drive on a dogleg right over the trees.

2x 280 yard drives. Same hole, 6 or so months apart. Short par-5 (480 yards from the white tees) at my home course. First time, I botched a 3-Iron with the intent of chipping onto the green. Second time, I nailed a 3H to within chipping distance for GIR, hit a bad chip (but at least on!) and missed the birdie putt. At my handicap, though, I can't complain.

Avg drive 200-210.

    • Check out Laird’s third shot on 18. Quite impressive.
    • I know my left arm bends at impact, but I’ve asked and my instructor said not to worry about it.
    • You make it sound like 15 minutes and 25 tries is a lot. Lots of people spend hours on some bosses, myself included.
    • I’m nearsighted, about -3.25 diopters.  For daily work, I use progressive lenses.  For golf, I have single vision (no reading/progressive) sunglasses, as you do. a) Yes, I lift my sunglasses as needed to record scores, adjust pin/putting location, etc. I’ve never really thought of it as a problem, but I can see how it might be for some. b) For low light, I have a very inexpensive set of single vision regular glasses that I ordered online ($50 or so because I splurged and upgraded the lenses). I keep them in my golf bag all the time.  At dusk, I switch from my nice sunglasses to my cheapo clear glasses. From time to time I consider contacts (I’ve worn them in the past), but then I’d probably have to use a set of readers to deal with (a).
    • This is how the selections have been picked for The Masters winner. I do see a slight problem in that two people picked JS at -14 . From what @iacas mentioned, if I am not mistaken, there can only be one selection for a particular golfer with reference to their final score? I noticed Darkfrog selected JS first at -14.
