Buds and I have a beef with TRUE Links and the 2015 lineup. Between me and a few buddies of mine who have liked the shoes to this point-We own about six pair each as they are comfortable to play and teach in. The 2015 shoes-All of them it seems-Are not waterproof. They say they are but they are not. The Hybrids crack in the sole all the time. Three pairs that I know of among my friends and three cracked soles all within the first few weeks of owning them. The Motions-My preferred teaching shoe-Soak my socks even though there are no cracks. I think the water just soaks in through the leather toward the toe or something. They will not be squishy like the Hybrids but I have to peel my sock off at the end of the day if I am on the course when it is just dewy and my toes look like wrinkly raisins. They have offered to replace the shoes-Some of my buddies took them up on that-But replacing defective shoes with more defective shoes does not seem to have a point. None of us have the other models. I am only talking about the Hybrid, Motion, and the one with cleats that looks like the Hybrid-Pro maybe. Yeah Pro: http://www.truelinkswear.com/shop/2015-men-s/true-motion.html - Says waterproof, is not. http://www.truelinkswear.com/shop/2015-men-s/true-game-changer-hybrid.html - Says waterproof, cracks on sole and leaks http://www.truelinkswear.com/shop/2015-men-s/true-game-changer-pro.html - Says waterproof, cracks on sole and leaks. Just wanted to give people a heads up-I like the shoes but they need to earn back my trust after this year. It has been a disaster. I know this site likes the shoes too but We can not have gotten the only twenty bad pairs of shoes.

@Phil McGleno

I wonder if it was a bad production run. I have not had the issue with my Motions. I've play two time in rain (heavy at times) and did not feel water in the shoes.

We bought them at different times so I do not think that is it-The shoes do not soak through to the point of having water but my socks can be wrung out after playing in dew and soft conditions. I wonder if it is just the suede front ones-The all-white ones are all regular leather and the ones with grey front areas are more suede-like right? Maybe the suede is what soaks through???

It may be. I played in the Motions with grey/white/orange the other day and came home to very wet socks. When caddying for my kiddo in a USKG event my grey/navy pair soaked through too.

I've also had several pair of the Game Changer Hybrids crack on the sole and soak through. In those cases there's WATER in the shoe, not just soaking, and it's "squishy" water like you said, not just a damp, moist, or wet sock.

I haven't worn the Classix or the Oxfords in wet(ter) conditions.

That's disappointing.

The shoes look solid from the images. The only thing I can think of is that the seem with the sole of the shoe is bad.

I wonder if that is why the shoes have been marked down to $70.00 on the website for a few months now. They could be clearing stock for next year's model. I am not sure when new shoes get introduced to the market.

Bummer seems all that was good about TRUE is coming to an end. I didn't buy any 2015's because I still have a bunch of unworn 2013's. I finally tossed out all the 2014's I have except the Gent's. Hopefully the older stuff keeps showing up on ebay.

Funny this post came up as I have had the same issue and was actually at the local golf store today to look at some new shoes.  I would like to start by saying I have two pair of these shoes.  I bought the Sensei a few years ago and they were sooooo comfortable but because I play in the morning, the dew is normally an issue.  Because they were not waterproof I felt like I should get a new pair.  The Sensei have become my daily sneaker.  I wear them everywhere and love them.  The second pair I got was the Vegas as they are leather and have the connector between the sole and the sides so I figured no way water gets in there.

I have been very disappointed in these shoes over the last year as they do no better and I am still coming home with wet socks.  I am not stepping in puddles or anything, its just the dew and any sort of wet condition that is really causing discomfort.  They are beginning to have a very bad odor and I dont know how to clean them

I think it is time to move on from my True shoes on the course and just keep them for my daily wear

Could be. I have the black leather ones and they are holding up fine.

Later this week I'll see about having a TRUE representative post here.

I wore a pair of Oxfords today. No problem (the black ones) and awfully comfortable.

I just got my pair of True Motion's today. I took them for a test run at the short game area. The grass was kinda damp due to a recent rainfall. Didn't seem to have any issues.

On a side note, these shoes are very comfortable. I like the style of grooves on the bottom of the shoe for grip.

This would be great.  I really do not want to get rid of my Vegas' but I cannot play with wet feet.  They didn't seem to have a problem the first 20-30 rounds but now its every time I play unless it is bone dry

@Phil McGleno

I recommend that you return the shoes. First, it will help you get your money back or a replacement. Second, it will help True figure out the problem. I deal with customer issues for my products. It really helps to get the product back to diagnose the issue. I guarantee they feel bad about it and will try to keep you as a customer.

They should cover the shipping.

They do not want them back-They said they were aware of the problem. They sent me new pair and gave me a credit for future pair because I did not want to replace all of them. I have gone back to the pre-2015 lineup as those shoes did not leak and soak my feet. Just wanted to let people know to wait a bit.-I hope they survive and learn because until this run the shoes have been very very good.

That sounds like a pretty good response. Hope they figure it out. I don't wear them, but I'm a big fan of all the competition in the market we can get!

I have had the same problem with my grey/navy Motions.  I emailed customer service and apparently that color has been discontinued along with a few others, so I could only get a replacement in white, black or white/burnt orange.  New colors are due out at the end of September so I guess I'll wait to have them replaced.  Hopefully they fix the waterproofing issue by then.

I played in the rain last Sunday. I sweat a lot and could not tell if the Motions kept water out. I never felt water seeping in, but my socks were damp.

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.

    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
