old 3 wood. Why do some people play cavity back 2 and 3 with MB higher irons?

Forgiveness and launch with low irons that are harder to hit, and better touch and lower launch in scoring irons that they hit high enough and consistently as it is.

Looks like DL3 isn't afraid to mix it up with the brands.

Yeah no equipment sponsor (just ball), although he's probably paid for the driver. He played S55 irons earlier in the year and most of last year I think.

This got started back in the 1980s. Several tour pros replaced their regular set's 2i and 3i with earlyPing long irons. The Ping perimeter weighting helped with launch.
