Would be really helpful if you could get some better camera angles. DTL and face on from good angles and height.

Agree. And as a professional photographer it's quite sad I need to be told that. Oops. : ) Anyway, once I get a different tool for my tripod I'll be able to get my right camera set up at the correct height. Right now it has a screw that won't fit the bottom of my camera. Thanks for the article though. Will be sure to find a better way to sort that out. It's a bit tough because the driving range is by no means flat, but I'm sure I'll be able to get something sorted.

I come bearing beautiful DTL video! : ) (That would be the video, itself, is beautiful, and none of the content within. LOL).

Sorry for all the previous bad videos. As I said no excuse with my profession really. Anyway, hope this helps a little bit and also I've been given lots more insight into what's going on too, I think. Darn, who knew about the camera angle thing. (No excuse for not seeing that, either. :) )

So I have a host of issues I'm sure, and if you ask me what I wanted to fix/change, I'd say "everything,", so instead I'll just see what advice I get here and what I should attack first.

Since your brand new to the game you can stick with the fundamentals without them seeming odd because you haven't developed any bad habits or good ones yet. Try this drill without hitting balls I personally don't do it because i'm not used to but again your new to the game and this could ingrain some good habits.

That looks like a funky drill -- I don't discredit it, but what is it supposed to do? I'd guess it would be a weight transfer drill, but I don't feel like I have any trouble with that (feel ain't real, perhaps) but it'd be good to know what it's meant for. I've never seen it before, but certainly looks interesting.

It's helps you get though yep! I saw your first video you hanged back and the ball went dead right. Your last video looked better, but your weight transfer was to up and down with out enough leg bend though. The step drill forces you to get through with leg bend like a pro instead of a faked follow through like many amateurs or less flexible players do.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll check it out. When mvmac checks back on my elbow work (since he's the one who suggested that work in the first place), I can search for something else to work on, too. But would like to see how I'm doing on that first.

I really don't feel like I have an issue with weight transfer, but I guess I can take a look. I only say that because I'm already off my right heel at impact, but maybe that doesn't mean anything at all. I'm not an expert

Fantastic posts. Thank you very much. I'll definitely take a look at those more in depth in the meantime. I feel like a carbon copy of some of those pictures. Definitely good to see the good camera angle as well. Thanks for all of your help again. :) look forward to hearing what else you have for me soon! (P.S. Question -- camera angle was okay? Think I got it right but want to know if there's anything else I could adjust.)

Whoa, definitely wasn't expecting my own video! That's pretty awesome. Thanks so much for this. Can't wait to get trying these things.

Absolutely need to get new video up. I've been to the driving range twice in the past week, which isn't as much as I usually go, but both times I'd have to say trying to do this drill I've not hit a single good shot. At all. I've buried the club into the ground an awful lot though, even on short shots.

It it definitely feels different, but it hasn't been the kind of different I am used to when I change something. It has been very uncomfortable different.

Just st have to get another video and see what's going on I guess.

Well, just a small update -- Got a new driver today, woo! Hopefully I'll be able to do a small, just my opinion review with some decent info somewhere.. I'm still new, so I'm not sure if the new website has a place for these things yet.. :)

Also, I did go out and get some new video about a week and a half ago, but there'd be no sense in posting it here, because truthfully there was zero change. :) Back to going slow with the alignment sticks, and this time I think I'm making some real progress, now that I know what it should both feel and look like. Also, it may not be the case, but I feel like I'm able to power through the ball better now that I've improved that. So, hopefully, I will be able to get some (actually) improved video up, soon.

Well, hey folks! -- Remember me? I'm glad to be back after some time away!

Sadly I've not been able to play as much golf as I would have liked, recently, but since range balls are free that's where the majority of my practice comes. I know, not the best, but it's better than nothing and keeps me entertained. Bit embarrassing to come back and see these swing videos -- eugh. Yikes, horrific!

Hope everyone has been doing well. Look forward to getting back into the swing of things (swear, pun not intended) and hello to everyone new and old.

Andrew

Here's a swing video today, just a wedge because I'm working on fixing some head movement things. Still, though. Bit different from last swing video, right?

Advice, comments, and so forth welcome, as always. Just glad to be back here at TST! :D

The backswing looks very good. The only thing I saw on the downswing is the hip rotation being a bit behind the arms. I've been working on that myself. The drill I've been doing is from A4 to A6, rotating my hips in sync with my arms.

Thanks, boogielicious! Have no doubt that that could come from trying to restrict my head moving forward. I need to practice better with the "body bump" being my lower body only and not dragging everything else along with it.

After a little bit of soreness/injury I took a break from the range -- I was definitely hitting a LOT of golf balls.

went back today to just ease back into things. Trying to do a left arm parallel wedge swing and still continue to work on the head movement forward. Pleased with some of the progress thus far. Strike wasn't great in this example but this was the best looking one as far as head movement went by far - which makes sense for the strike. Doing something new (better) so have to adjust.

    • Hitting some good shots on my golf trip. It's good I can tell when I hit better shots the way I want to swing the ball versus when I use an older swing. Shockingly, the short game has been at worst, not harmful to my game. I am using similar feels to the full swing, in that I try to get my hands down. I've been nipping the ball clean off the turf.
    • I was laid off two months ago. Good severance, a 90 day layoff announcement regulation the company wanted to avoid so technically I'm still on the payroll for a few weeks, and a bunch of banked PTO, so I'm in a great spot and working on a startup idea I've been batting around with my brother for a while. That means I've got time to get to the gym! I'm at like 60-75 minutes 5x a week of strength training, and either a run or a bunch of time playing soccer or tennis with my daughter on the weekends. Stronger than I've been in forever. Up ~5 pounds of (noticeable!) muscle!

    • A bit of background. The Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) runs an annual event known as "Team Play." It is a wildly popular match play competition where Men's Clubs across the region put together teams of 20+ golfers together to compete against other clubs in a 16 vs. 16 match. In any given year, approximately 80-100 clubs will participate. Each club is grouped into "pods" of 4, and will play 6 total matches - one home and one away match against the other 3 clubs. The winning club from each pod advances to the Team Play Playoffs - a single elimination format - until a winner is crowned.  Antelope Valley Country Club just advanced to the championship match for the 3rd consecutive year. They won the championship in both 2022 and 2023.  Based on my review of the match history from the past 3 years (linked below), they have won 21 consecutive team matches. Keep in mind, these are handicapped matches, so this is not just a case where a group of sticks bands together to dominate the poor amateurs other SoCal clubs. Even if these guys are grinders who never quit, play their best under pressure and routinely putt the lights out, the law of averages still say that a streak of that nature is mathematically impossible.  Is there any plausible explanation beyond institutionalized sandbagging throughout the club?
