Im thinking of giving one of the cheaper tour balls a shot. ( gamer tour or bridgestone e5) but before i hand over hard earned cash, im curious as to whther or not it helped anyone and even more curious as to whther or not im good enough to play a tour ball as i dont have high swing speed and i still lose a few every round. So....whats your story?

Made my short game more predictable. Ball doesn't roll out quite so much so I can be a little more aggressive on chips. Not a huge deal but it's mentally confidence boosting which is enough of a reason.

My current ball wont stay close to its pitch mark. Dont need it to spin back just need it to stay put on landing. I want that cus im finally good enough to land the ball where i want or close to that from 115 and in. Itd be nice if the ball would stay where i put it or at least inside of six feet from where it lands so i can make a few more putts.

also the ball is too hot coming off my putter, need something that comes off slower and more predicably.

GOOD TO HEAR; consistant and predictable is what i hope to acheive by making the switch.

@stealthhwk , we've asked you in other threads, but please multiquote.

You're a 21 handicapper - I doubt you're hitting the ball hard enough or cleanly enough to get a lot of spin and to have the ball land at a steep angle.

A higher spin ball will generally result in less consistency for most higher hcp players, not more. Especially around the greens, if you're not consistent with you pitching and chipping, you'll find that the ball may grab and stop when you expect it to run out, and will release when you expect it to check.

Nothing really happened when I tried some high end tour balls. I basically shot the same scores with them as I did the less expensive balls. Heck, I think I could shoot close to my normal scores with a 2 piece top flite range ball if I tried.

Multi quote means that responses from a number of people show up in one post and you can type your response to each within that one post. Hit the multi button on each post until the last one and just hit the quote button on that one. On your phone just hit the " button on each post you want to respond to.

I think i figured it out what went wrong. Thanks for everybodies patience. I think i got it.

You've still got to have technique and experience to take advantage of tour ball spin around the greens, and to understand how the ball will react with different shots.

Tour ball = possibilities.

Yeah, my game is pretty good inside of 115 yards. The ball exploding off the putter is aggravating, other than that its generally my 2nd shot that fouls things up. Lands in greenside bunker, i hit it to four feet before it careens off the back or edge of the green. And im kinda short off the tee since i cant hit anything over 200 so im often hitting hybrid, 5, or six iron into the greens and half of those are rolling off the green after landing within 25 feet or so of the pin.

Why not a ball like the NXT tour?  Decent ball but much cheaper.

Nxt tour is a good ball but im not paying 34 a dozen for anything with a surlyn cover. And the e5 is 28.99 a dozen and the gamer tour are 24.99 although dsg usually has a special two for 30 or 35 so near me the nxt tour is actually the more expensive of the three. Thats a good ball tho so thanks for the thought.
