28 putts.
I bogeyed the first and the last.
16 pars in a row isn't anything to cry about.
I'm starting to hit fairways again, thank god.
I still need to work on a lot of things.
I'm almost fanning my wedge shots right, it's weird.

I had a fantastic round. Shot 44 for 9. Best ever. The last two holes, a par 3 and 5 were pars that were mere inches from being birdies.

Felt so good as I went through a spell the last two weeks where I was shooting 53 to 55 on the same course. It was very depressing.

Great round for me today, infact, my best score ever! A new career low of 77! My handicap is at a all time low of 11.1

I hit great irons, driving was good, not great, but better than it has been in the past week. Same with the chipping and pitching aspect...better, not great still. My putting is where it really picked up. Last week or so I was putting awful. My dad said I was being too mechanical. I simplified my setup, and my pre-putt routine, and it helped a ton. Better feel, and made a ton of 8-10 footers to either save par or birdie.

I hope for more rounds like this. I must confess this is one of the first times in m y life I finally played up my expectations. I guess sometimes my expectations are a little steep, and today I finally played up to what I think is my best ability right now.

53 out, 52 in for a 105.

Disappointing day... short game was a little bit better than it has been in the past, but my irons just went to shit. Usually my irons are solid and everything else is shaky. I need to get on the range wednesday before playing again friday.

I threw my clubs into the lake so it's time to start over...

89 today, 46 on the front, 43 on the back. Hit my irons very well today. Had a birdie from off the green on #10, a 153 yd par 3. Bladed my sand wedge that I was chipping with, the ball went on a sinking line and hit the bottom of the flagstick below the cup on the fly. It stayed in for my 2.

79. First time I ever broke 80. Very happy but I blew a five foot birdie and took two doubles. Shouldn't complain; it was 30 degrees with not a cloud in the sky. Couldn't have been more enjoyable.

82.....42/40. First round in two weeks. Walked the whole 18. Very Hot. Shoulders hurt from bag. Feet hurt. Need a push cart. Need better shoes or insoles. But it was fun!

Congrats! That is a huge accomplishment (at least in my book). Can hardly wait to join you, although it may be a year or two

84. my irons were spot on all day. i drove myself into trouble a few times, and made 6 putts over 35 feet. 5 for par, 1 for birdie.

unfortunatly the course only rates as a 67. but it helps the handicap

49 on 9 holes this morning!.. Broke 50 for the very first time. Hit my driver ok, irons were very very crisp on all holes. Short game was tricky.. lots of shots over bunkers. I pushed most of my shots which gave me some tricky lies.

Most importantly I did not have a single real blow-up hole. Played it safe and even managed to par the last hole.

One triple bogey, one par, rest bogeys and doubles.

76 at Kennsington . Made more birdies than I have lately, which was cool, but got sloppy too a few times.

    • Same here. Seems quite a few of my fundamentals had strayed and Erik had to get me back on track. It was kind of surprising how bad I had gotten off.
    • I would like to point out I was not complaining about hot summers;  rather, I enjoy them.  It's the coming cold cold winter I'm about to face that worries me.
    • From late 2022 until a few months ago, I barely played (maybe two dozen rounds, total, and only four rounds in 2024).  I had my first lesson in ages (Skillest, with Erik) and grip was part of it -- mine really did get into a bad spot, and I had to (and still have to) practice the new one.  It still feels odd, but that's a good thing when adjusting (otherwise I'm probably doing the previous).   I'm going back into the office for the first time since then and I'm tempted to take a small section of pipe, keep it in a desk drawer, and periodically take it out to practice my grip.
    • Great episode on GAPs. I agree 100%, this needs to be consistent. It is something you have complete control over to a high level of repeatability and precision. It is such low hanging fruit as well.  My own tendencies.  Grip - Can get too strong. I tend to not get much grip with my left pinky, and the grip can feel like it slips more into the palm. I mess around with grip size and tap wraps. I wonder if I need to get away from a big taper.  Stance - Use to be too far right. I noticed, for the first time ever, I was aiming too far left on the course last week. It was like 5-10 yards left of the target, not 20-30 yards right. Overcorrection. 🤣 It is getting better.  Posture - Way better now that I stretch and work on mobility. I could tell years ago that if I tried to keep my knees less bent, get more on the balls of my feet, I felt a stretch in my calves and hamstrings. Now, I don't, and it helps. I think people might avoid that stretch feeling because it might feel unnatural. I used to be head up as well, looking too much down the bridge of my nose. I still can catch myself doing that, especially on shorter irons. I think I have average ankle mobility. I do have to use elevated heels when I squat at the gym, or I tend to fall over forward.  I agree, if you are not practicing this then you can become lax. For about the entire first half of this season, I was just waltzing up to the ball without aiming. I still catch myself being lazing. I have to step back and actually aim. I think adding this into your practice sessions is easy. Just do it before ever rep at the range. Just make it a conscious effort on the course.  For the tee shot, the only time you can kind of use an alignment aid (other divot or maybe something is lying on the ground). I tend to use that to help me aim. I try to imagine a straight line that I align my body to.
