What'd You Shoot Today?

Recommended Posts

Started golf about two months ago...
First time out was a 138
Now two months later and I got three birdies and shot a 102 would of broke 100 but had 2 quads because of 4 putts... dang it...
So my next time out... I am praying that I can break 100....

This is crazy. I shot 84 today. Overall, I struck the ball well. I made two putting errors. I put myself in jail on two other holes (impossible up and downs). No birdies. Never have I played when the way I struck the ball made me feel like I shot 77-78 and I shot much more than that.

Well, my score was worse than ever (64 for 9 holes!)... BUT... the guy I got paired up with pointed out that my grip was a total mess. After shanking the first drive, topping an iron on the two par 3s, and having a mediocre heeled line drive on another hole, he pointed this out on the 5th hole. The 5th through 9th hole drives were all gorgeous, probably 5 of the 7 best drives I've had outside the driving range. I hit 4 out of 5 fairways from that point, and the last few rounds I was lucky to hit even a single fairway (other than on a shank).

Now that my driving seems to be on track, I guess it's time to go back to the short game and iron practice so I can actually capitalize... it had been so frustrating though, but I think this is my epiphany (for now).... So, Ron.. thanks!

Went back to the s59 Tours today (the i5s need to be regripped) and will probably continue to use these now. walked 27 holes in four hours. Shot 40, 35, 37.

Shot a 74 on a par 70, but started off with a triple bogey on the first hole. Pretty much always par that first hole, but hit two ridiculous tee shots to start. The greens have just been aerated on the front 9 so missed 3 easy par putts for a 6 over on the front. Came on strong on the back 9 with a 2 under par.

88 on par 72. My chipping and putting are killing me right now.

54 + 58 on a tough course. It feels as though I am regressing. Not too long ago I shot a 40. Tomrrow is an even tougher course. I hope I can score better!

Shot a 92 today which included a 9 on a par 5 and a 6 on a par 3

Take those 2 scores away and it was a pretty good day overall for me considering the course. Came a few inches away from holing out from 150.

Played 27 today. Shot 44-44-44. The last nine could have been better, but my back was/is pretty sore from playing in the cold drizzle all day.

50 + 55 on a tough course. My driver has gone AWOL - I put TONS OB/Lost off the tee :( The good thing is that I was hitting greens on my approach. I also traded my R7 Draw #3 hybrid for a Ping G5 19 deg and I hit the Ping *much* better. My friend loves the R7 so it was a good trade all around. Sunday's round is setup and comes with a free hamburger!

Back in the groove for the second time this week. Just using 7-iron at the range. Seems like I fixed my balance and address issues that were messing me up. Some nice tight dispersion in places. some within about 12 feet of the pin, which is good for a duffer like me who doesn't carry a handicap. (I get out on a real 18 hole course very rarely.) Did seem to have inexplicably lost some carry distance. Not sure what happened there.

Sprayed drives right and left and hit low burners off the tee all day, lost one OB over the fence and another OB in the drink, shot 55 on the front and 47 coming home, with a whopping 6 three-putts. My aching 102!

Of course, I finished up the day with a wind-assisted drive 260 down the middle, pitched a 9-iron up to 12 feet, and two-putted for par on the 18th hole. Why can't I do that every hole?

Weird round. Wet round. Forecast read "near 100 percent chance of rain", me being "Mr. Devoted" decided to play through it. The first 4 holes it dowpoured. I ended up going into the 11th hole (accidentally started on 16) +8. It got a little brighter after that. I went bogey, bogey, par, par, birdie with 3 straight one putts (all over 10 feet). I decided to try the Camilo Villegas reading strategy on the last three holes. Wow, boy did it work.

Shot low lowest ever today, a 2 under 70, course was a wet 6,800 yards.

6 birdies
4 bogeys
1 ball
Won the money - 65 euro from 12 other lads (about 80 dollars)

Today in Lawrence it got cold. The KU-Texas game was on TV - if you saw it you know it is cold here. It was officially 40 with a wind chill of 31, and it flurried off-and-on. Being that KU was down big and "Me being Mr. devoted ", I decided to play. It was actually really fun today - battling the cold and wind. I wore long socks, jeans, longsleeve t and a wind breaker, and a beanie. It wasn't so bad. There was one other car in the parking lot.

The round went:
par, bogey, bogey, bogey, par, bogey, par, par, par +4 out 40
par, bogey, par, birdie, bogey, par, double bogey, par, par +3 in 39.

driver: FT-i tlcg 9.5˚ (Matrix Ozik XCONN Stiff)
4 wood: G10 (ProLaunch Red FW stiff)
3 -PW: :Titleist: 695 mb (Rifle flighted 6.0)

putter: Studio Select Newport 1.5

79....39/40 in gale force winds. Not sure how I did it. Miraculous given conditions. Three-putted three times. Bothersome. Glad to see the 70's again.
