It kills me to hear you guys talking about just playing golf...I don't know what I would do if I had to wait 4-5 months to play golf.

Yeah... tell me about it. Not only do you have to wait all winter but then almost relearn the damn sport. Takes me some time to get comfortable with my swing. And forget the short game, it takes me at least a few rounds or so to get some sort of feel back around the greens. I was hitting 30 footers 15 feet the other day. Ridiculous. Now it'll rain for a couple months... OK, I'll stop the sob story. I hate NH and want to move to Florida.

What did I shoot today? Nothing, it's too cold and rainy. I'll play Tiger Woods golf when I get home and let you know how I do.

No kidding! My wife wants to move back to Michigan where she is from. I am a desert guy myself, I don't like the cold one bit. I don't think I could live someplace where you put the clubs away for the winter months. Christ, we had the largest snow storm in history here and it closed the course for 21 days. I almost went nuts! Good thing the courses were still open just south of us so we could go there for a couple of rounds. My wife will find herself single again if she moves to the cold country.

49 on 9 holes...could've been better, could've been much worse. It was 30 degrees and windy as hell. My hands might as well have frozen off as I'm trying to swing the club.

Topping a three iron is torture when it's cold.

For the first time ever, I broke 90 on my home course - I shot a 89 (44/45) from the Whites (Par 72, 70.0, 127). The 35 putts could be better, but I'll take the 89 !!

I played a course in PA today, from the tips (blue tees, when i play with my dad, since he's a 4.5 handicap, he forces me to play there lol) and shot a 50 on the front, and a 44 on the back..I was 4 over for 7 holes, but blew up on the last two. lol...

So, I was pretty happy overall to break 95, and it could've EASILY been 50/40...

32 on a little 9-hole pitch and putt down the road. Should've been a 29 if not for a couple of skulled wedges.

Finally, I get to post a score in this thread!
Played Eagle Ranch in Invermere BC.
Shot around a 93. Greens were in great condition for this time of year.
Weather was outstanding. It was a pleasure to swing some new clubs.

I shot 74 yesterday at Honey Bee Golf Club in Virginia Beach(my home town). Par is 70, and the course plays 6075 from the tees I played, and the slope is 126. I had 4 bogies and 5 pars on the front, and 3 birdies, 3 bogies, and 3 pars on the back. What a rollercoaster. It was windy and the temp was in the high 50's. It's very fun course. I highly recommend it if you are ever in the Hampton Roads area.

Cold and windy, highs in the 30's and I shot 49 first time out this year. Company golf league really needs to start a bit later, when the weather is nicer.

Played Wed. 4/11

Score: 40-46 = 86

Overall I'm happy with the score but not happy with how my round ended. Plus this course is not that difficult. I was originally only planning to play 9 holes after work but with snow in the forecast the next day (and yes, we got it) I played 18. I walked 18 and played the back really fast as I was dealing with darkness so my last few holes were incomplete... you know, I would have two putted that, I would have gotten that up and down but not that one. So I guess you could give or take a stroke on the back nine. At least the flags were in every hole

Played great on the front considering this was my second round of the year. But I started spraying the driver way right on the back... something I fought all of last year. Very discouraging... I know it's a swing flaw that I have to work on. Also still trying to get the feel around the greens.

Hit the hybrid more this round and for the most part I hit it very well.

42 on 9 holes...but the course was only 2700 yards from the white tees, so I don't consider it a great achievement.

38 + 43 = 81 (2.5 hours/twosome - 1st off)

The front nine was a dream...driving, putting, and chipping was consistent.
The back nine was good too except for 3 loose long irons (2 5's and 1 6i) that ended up in 3 bunkers. All 3 were plugged lies (not fried egg - PLUGGED- it rained the day before) and 2 of them were side hill plugged lies. The two side hillers I ended up with 2 doubles (I tried to use a 9iron to tomahawk them out and they came out about a foot forward and rolled back into the sand trap) and the regular plugged lie was a bogey...talk about a buzzkill.

Besides the 3 crappy bunker holes, I was happy with the game. The putting today was so satisfying...back and forth finishing toward the hole on line without any tension. The weather was overcast, very little wind, and around 70 degrees. I might have to get a hall pass from the wifey for tomorrow!

45-43 = 88

This is how strange golf is... I'm much more satisfied with my 88 today than I was my 86 the other day. From tee to green I played pretty well but didn't made anything with the putter. Also, the conditions were very difficult. It was in the mid to upper 40's for most of the round with strong winds. What the hell, I play in this or I don't play at all.

Got a lot more work in with the new wedges and by the middle part of this round I felt very comfortable with the new SW. The LW is another story... Around the greens the CG10 is amazing, soft feel and easy to spin, on longer shots I'm not as convinced. Very pleased with how I hit off the tee (driver, 3W and hybrid), actually I hit the Halo probably 4-6 times (various situations) and can't think of a bad one.

Some really bad weather in the forecast for the next few days so I'll have to take a little break.

    • I mean, if you like GZ, and would drink it more often during a round than water, then keep drinking that. If you walk 18 holes, on a hot summer day, and drink 2 20-oz waters or 4 20-oz GZ. You will benefit more from the 4 20-oz GZ because it's like 99.99% water, lol. Yea, if flavored water makes you drink more water, then that works better.  I would just monitor the salt intake relative to your own health. I am sure some people might have to be careful. GZ is 280 mg salt. So, 4 of those is over 1000 mg. It is over 4 hours. That is like half the daily recommended intake of salt. You are probably losing some of your salt reserves playing golf. Long winded way of saying, it depends on the person.
    • My first few years playing golf, I'd take a 32 oz Gatorade (probably pre-zero;  almost certainly Gatorade Tiger when that was a thing) with me in my bag, but I'd otherwise take water (in about the volumes I take now).  From your post, it seems like going back to something like that might be a better idea for me -- primarily water (maybe with some fruit or mint leaves thrown in for flavor) and one bottle of sports drink, rather than a diluted sports drink across all I'm drinking?
    • Yesterday evening, I watched The Gentlemen, a Guy Ritchie film from 2019 that I evidently missed on first pass.  It's a par, but it's a par on one of those long par-4s where the par feels like a birdie. It's in a similar vein to some other movies like Lock Stock, Snatch, or Layer Cake (which was Vaughn, not Ritchie).  If you liked those, I think you'll like this.   A friend suggested it a few months ago, and I started it one night and couldn't finish because I was having trouble following.  In retrospect, that was an artifact of trying to watch the movie too late in the day.  I started the movie at the beginning earlier yesterday and got to enjoy the full thing very much, but unlike some other movies, I encourage anyone to watch this when they're awake enough to catch which characters are which.  In my case, watching with subtitles helped me understand what some characters were saying.
    • Sweat contains about 800 to 1500 mg per liter. For me, about 45 minutes of moderately intense workout had me lose about 3-lbs of water weight. That is about 1-liter. Now, a thing you need consider how much salt you are getting from food. Humans have been perfectly fine eating food with extra salt added. Typically, people would get 500 to 1000 mg of salt just from eating whole foods. Most people eat processed foods, which have more salt. So, we probably are not salt deprived. We are constantly digesting food we eat and taking in that salt. Unless you are fasting, and working out, you probably are slowly getting salt back into your body.  I will say electrolyte powder is probably beneficial for people for intense training or long endurance activities in the perspective of improving fluid retention (helps in recovery) and preventing cramping. I would say, just drinking water is way more important in general. For something like running marathons, absolutely beneficial. For golf, this is a marginal benefit.  In terms of ideal electrolyte ratios, you want to be in the 2:1 to 4:1 sodium to potassium ratio. Though, I have also seen ratios closer to 20:1. This mechanism is vital for nerve impulses, cell volume control, and kidney functions. Potassium is essential for muscle contractions. Magnesium is good for muscles function as well.  Ultima Replenisher: 55mg salt, 250mg potassium, 100mg magnesium.  *Probably good for people who don't eat a lot of whole foods, or foods with a lot salt. Probably one in the same, lol.  LiquidIV: 500mg salt, 370mg potassium, no magnesium.  LMNT: 1000mg salt, 200mg potassium, 60mg magnesium. Skratch: 400mg salt, 50mg potassium, 50mg magnesium.  Transparent Labs: 500mg salt, 250mg potassium, 50mg magnesium. If I had to choose one, I would probably go with Skratch. My diet isn't 100% whole foods, so I get plenty of salt.  Note, if you have kidney issues, I would be wary of adding excessive salt. Salt can be very hard on the kidneys, and you might be negating the benefits of drinking that water.
    • I ran the nutrients for Ultima Replenisher  by my friend who is nutritionist. She said it was a decent breakdown. So I bought the berry and lemonade packs at Target. Will give a try on the course today.
