I just received my copy of 5SK today and went through the first couple videos. I am starting with the chipping stroke which includes a nice explanation. I spent some time working the chips tonight, but wanted to see if anyone has further chipping resources that are inline with the 5SK concepts... maybe a few different views? club selections, etc?

Regards,

Dave

I pitch about 98% of the time. Very rare do I ever need to chip the ball. I pretty much always want to engage the bounce of the wedge.

Here are two good videos on techniques for pitching and chipping.

The "chipping" in the DVDs is more of a short version of the full-swing motion. It's not purely "chipping" like you might do for a short game shot (though for chipping it's pretty close - not exactly true when you get to the medium length "pitching" thing which isn't really like pitching the short game version).

Weight forward, feet close, shoulder down, hinge the wrists slightly, and lead with the hands on the downswing. That's a basic chip.

Thanks for the clarification... It appears that the stance being used in slightly open with parrallel feet toes to heels... and about a club length appart. Did I see that correctly?

The Quicky Pitching Video and Chipping with a Putting Method are also good resources. This post is pinned in the Swing Thoughts section.

For chips I just use my putting motion. Main thing I try to accomplish is no herky- jerky movement. Just focusing on keeping my form, using less loft (and choking down) if I need more run. Most memorable chip for me was a 5 iron just off the green, that rolled close resulting in par.

I'm a high capper so take it for what it's worth but those two videos posted above changed my short game for the better.

Quite easy to execute and the margin for error is much bigger.

Thanks everyone for your help on this subject. And actually, the Chips and Pitches video by Erik did it for me. I watched it over and over.... practicing the techique. This morning's round proved it out and put all the chips up close to the pin. Thanks!
