Just aim your body left and make your stock "draw" swing.

I saw a video that said to do that also.  I tried it and didn't have much consistency.  Then again, it was with a Ping K15 which isn't really the best club to try to fade anyway.  I picked up a used Titleist which I may try this fade again.

When playing regularly and when my swing is grooved, I am generally able to hit reasonably straight shots or a mild fade.  Now that am not playing regularly and practicing not at all, my general shot is a slice but when I catch it clean, a straight shot.  I can't shape shots at will, unless you call my fade or slice intentional.

What's in the bag

  • Cobra Baffler 4H (stiff)
  • Taylor Made RAC OS 6-9,P,S (regular)
  • Golden Bear LD5.0 60* (regular)
  • Aidia Z-009 Putter
  • Inesis Tour 900 golf ball

At the moment - honestly - I have only a general idea.  I've battled a big slice for a couple of years now, but it's only in the last 2-3 months I've started hitting straight.  I still can't hit a draw, but now I'm annoyed and surprised when I hit a slice or big fade, rather than expecting it (and aiming miles to the left!)
Last time I played everything went left off the tee, beautifully long and with no movement in the air, but left.  I lost 5 balls this way!  Back to the swing coach...

Mostly a light fade. I hit a lot of fairly straight drives lately but if I am not focused I will push fade like mo...

I play for all of my shots to be a draw, as my swing and setup make it more natural for me to hit a draw than a fade. A nice straight draw is my goal for every shot, starting the ball along the path of my feet (slightly to the right of the target) and ending at the target due to the difference in my path and face angle.

If necessary though, I am able to shape my tee shot in whatever way a hole may require. I can hit both fades and draws, it just come more naturally to me (I don't need to put additional effort into it) if I hit a draw. I also am able to hit a slice or a hook when needed off the tee, if I'm playing a tree-lined course with a sharp dogleg (I actually had to re-learn how to slice the ball after I fixed many of my initial swing woes). The shot that I find most difficult off the tee (assuming that I am using a driver) is a low-fade since I naturally have a ballflight that is both high and right-to-left. The only shot that I have never attempted to hit, and don't intend to attempt in the future, is a straight shot. Hitting the ball straight leaves you more vulnerable to the variations in your swing because you could curve the ball right or left, depending on the imperfections in each individual swing.

I had big slices, tried to correct it, then it became hooks. So I now try to change my swing, make it much easier and shorter. Now my drives are much more straight but mostly suffer from a lack of power.

    • They sure do. 158 with an 8 iron is on the high end for me
    • Went back to controlling my knees. That part was getting a bit sloppy when I worked on my backswing. Right hip didn't slide or gain internal rotation. I would just rotate back and around and the left knee would be in a bad spot. Really focusing now on keeping my left knee very stable and straighter in the backswing. I can't go back to the old pattern of overturning the hips. I was returning to my old pattern to time my downswing. Turn forever.  Left knee controls both knees and hips, acting as an anchor. Feel like it straightens a bit.   Hinge sooner and faster. Not in a way that sends the hands out and flips the club over. I still noticed when the hands get to A2.5, the hands would want to flip over and flatten the club out a ton.  Still trying to figure out how to roll the forearms a bit open and not just roll the club inside a ton.  Figure out the timing to get the hands down. Still getting a bit of right elbow collapsing in the downswing because the arms are too high when I turn. Everything is happening sooner now. If the hips are controlled, the backswing is shortened. Because it is shortened I don't know when to get the hands down and I just turn because the downswing is a go.  Very slow (50%) swings are decent.
    • Distances look fine, no?
    • Day 207-12 Wider backswing and arm reconnecting in downswing. Did a much better job with proper wrist movements through downswing today.
