You should probably ask them. These kinds of things don't have standard definitions, unfortunately.

Gun to my head and forced to guess… basically, he wants you to (be able to) swing faster.

I'm guessing, he may trying to get you to be more aggressive.

Could be he's seeing you trying to "steer" your shots, or trying to be too mechanical.

Maybe he's trying to explain that you should swing the club and feel the motion.

Just taking a stab in the dark on your question, maybe to ask your instructor of his thoughts for an explanation.

Sounds like Tiger Woods-speak. More dynamic. More explosive. Whatever you want it to mean really.

Dynamic always meant Fluid to me.  Swing looking jerky or forced, be more dynamic.  It does have multiple definitions when it is applied to the golf swing.

My $0.02 worth is much like what  is already posted. Your instructor wants you to "change" your current swing to one that is more "energetic".

A good rule of thumb. If you are paying for instruction, don't let the instructor move on to something else until you completely understand what he/she is currently instructing you on. The instructor might not like it, and think of you as a slow learner.  However, it's your money, and the instructor is your employee for the length of time you purchased. Basically you are paying for an understanding of some part of your swing. Get what you paid for.

Be more dynamic? Possibly this promotes focus on the full swing, rather than parts of it. A golf pro who use video analysis cautioned met that many of his students get hung up on isolated positions at the expense of the full swing. As he said, "Sooner or later, you have to hit the ball!"

MORAD golf schools helped popularize the 9 Ps of the golf swing. And, 5SK uses the 10 Alignment positions. But, overemphasis on one of the positions can harm the overall swing tempo.

In golf conditioning, trainers often discuss dynamic vs. static stretches.  As a general summary, static stretches seek to lengthen and increase flexibility of isolated muscles, while dynamic stretches seek to warm up the muscles by approximating the movements of the sporting event. Here is one such routine (from among many on web):

------------------------------------
Overall, I would guess that the pro urging dynamic wants to see smooth action throughout the swing. But, as others have suggested, ask him to find out for sure. And if he can't define dynamic, find a new pro.

Focus, connect and follow through!

We don't use them as "positions" per se. More of a shorthand. We don't have any set measurements at each of the positions.

I agree it has many meanings and must be taken in context. To me, it means a more free swing, not trying to hit positions or control every single aspect of it, not trying to think through a swing. More cerebellum, less cerebrum. It's a thin line. You still want to retain the stuff you baked it, but feel, out of control a little. In Star Wars speak, it's a little like "Let go." before Luke Skywalker hightails it out of the trench, not using the computer to shoot down the death star, but trusting his own analog aim.

    • They sure do. 158 with an 8 iron is on the high end for me
    • Went back to controlling my knees. That part was getting a bit sloppy when I worked on my backswing. Right hip didn't slide or gain internal rotation. I would just rotate back and around and the left knee would be in a bad spot. Really focusing now on keeping my left knee very stable and straighter in the backswing. I can't go back to the old pattern of overturning the hips. I was returning to my old pattern to time my downswing. Turn forever.  Left knee controls both knees and hips, acting as an anchor. Feel like it straightens a bit.   Hinge sooner and faster. Not in a way that sends the hands out and flips the club over. I still noticed when the hands get to A2.5, the hands would want to flip over and flatten the club out a ton.  Still trying to figure out how to roll the forearms a bit open and not just roll the club inside a ton.  Figure out the timing to get the hands down. Still getting a bit of right elbow collapsing in the downswing because the arms are too high when I turn. Everything is happening sooner now. If the hips are controlled, the backswing is shortened. Because it is shortened I don't know when to get the hands down and I just turn because the downswing is a go.  Very slow (50%) swings are decent.
    • Distances look fine, no?
    • Day 207-12 Wider backswing and arm reconnecting in downswing. Did a much better job with proper wrist movements through downswing today.
