On the front page of yesterday's "Wall Street Journal",  there is an article written by Matthew Futterman entitled "A Below-Par Winter? Golf Courses are All Fore It.   Warm-weather crowds hit U.S. Links in December, a helpful handicap rule".  We are experiencing the nice weather he wrote about, and we are loving it.  I live near Utica, NY, and we usually have ended our season by now. Instead, we have no snow, temperature in the 40's or 50's, and many of our courses are open.  What a nice Christmas present from St. Nicholas to us----the enthusiastic "lovers of the Greatest Game of All"!

I'm in Vermont until a week from Sunday and can only hope the courses near Albany are still playable.

So sick.

Which course do you think you'll play from now until we really can't play?

Lucky you.  It was 39 degrees F in Phoenix, AZ @ 8:30 AM when I teed off this morning.

I live near Buffalo, NY and have been playing golf the whole month of December up here. There hasn't been any snow as yet, and it looks like the weather is going to be in the 60's for the 23rd and 24th of December. In other words you will find me out on the golf course probably on the 23rd as well as on Christmas Eve

Your profile says North Eastern New York State.  Did Buffalo float down the Erie Canal?  Buffalo is north western NY.  I grew up in Chautauqua County.

If I didn't have to work all damn day tomorrow, Wednesday, and Thursday, I'd be out playing, I'm in Ithaca, and this December has been weird, ¼"-½" of measurable snow all November and December

PEZ---it  looks as if we will play on Friday at Maplecrest. We will spend Christmas with our families. According to Professed Golf in my magazine, "The Golf News", golf fanatics play on Christmas Day, whereas golf enthusiasts wait until the next day!

PEZ SEZ---I am glad we are playing on Friday.  It has been raining all day here, so we need to have dry weather tomorrow and Christmas Day to make the course playable.

Thank you for correcting me - that was a typo on my part that I overlooked. It should have rather said North Western New York

Nice catch.  This is proof that people actually check out our Profiles, as they should.

I'm from around the Syracuse area and never thought I'd be able to play golf in December, I wish the winters were always like this. Hopefully this rain we are getting dries up over the next couple days.

I usually check the location of all the posters.  Neat to be able to talk to people around the world.

I wasn't correcting you.  When I've read your posts in the past and it said north eastern NY, I was think Adirondacks or Watertown.  That's a really neat part of the state.  Great fishing.  Never golfed up there though.

I remember golfing in Feb and March up in NY when the snow was melting and I lost bunches of plugged balls in the soaked fairways.  That sucked, but it beats not playing at all. :-)
