It is a camera holder build into a headcover. Cool idea. Check out the video link.

One PGA Show Item I Already Want: SwingSnap

I'm still taking in all of the 2016 PGA Merchandise Show after day one and, barring a crazy day at Torrey, will post the best of.

That said, the GolfDigest.com crew nominated a few of their favorite things spotted on the floor, and without question the standout for me was this headcover that doubles as a camera holder.

Considering that I just watched an aspiring player trying to balance his camera phone on his bag yesterday with questionable results, I'm guessing there's at least one taker for the soon to be released SwingSnap.

As someone who used to lug a huge video camera and tripod to the range, I have no problem admitting that I'm envious of today's aspiring players.

Of course the SwingSnap also appears to be a discreet way to setup a camera to record when you tee off on one of the world's most famous golf holes.

This is clever. Pre order price is low.

Nice, but not as easy or incognito as the link indicates -- I've owned one of those sticks you impale into the ground that has a phone holder on the end for videos. You've still got to bend down to make sure you are close/far enough and have what you want in the picture. But it is an alternative.

Looks pretty nifty.  I've got a gorilla pod that I try and mount to my clubs/bag but it doesn't work very well.  Hard to get the right pitch angle.  That thing looks better, but I'd have to try it to see.

Tell them their product is crap because it doesn't come with a smartphone. What kind of business do they think they're running? Amateurs. :-D

But seriously, try attaching your phone so that it uses the rear facing camera. I think you should be able to aim properly even with an obstructed view.

    • Day 5 - 2024-10-05 Hit some somewhat soft pitching wedges. The outside and inside, particularly the outside of the left thumb where my right hand goes on it, is still pretty sore. I don't think I'll do more damage, but I'm reluctant to do too much because I don't want to compensate or alter my motion.
    • Day 156 (05 Sep 24) - Played new to me course today, it’s near our beach place and have been wanting to play it for a couple of years now.  It’s a neat Par 70 that plays just over 6k from the tips, played the whites 5,500 +/-.  Tight fairways and severely undulating greens made for some great shot strategy.  Wound up with an even 80 that included two lost ball penalties.  Putter was solid - 28 total.  Wedge play kept the pars happening - 6 of the 9 pars were up and downs.  Not bad for the first time on a new course.
