If you track your sand/save percentage, what is it?

  1. 1. If you track your sand/save percentage, what is it?

    • 0 - 4.9% - Most of the time I am happy to get it out of the sand in one
    • 5 - 9.9% - Out in one most of the time but not close enough
    • 10 - 19.9% - A little better putting or a bit better sand play and this number would be higher
    • 20 - 29.9% - I feel I have reached a degree of competency. Rarely make a complete mess from the bunker
    • 30 - 44.9% - I am disappointed when I don't have a good chance to save a stroke
    • 45+ % - Approaching or exceeding Tour standards
      0
    • Other - please explain

My sand save percentage is pretty low, not because I have any problem making a good shot from a bunker, but because my short putting sucks.  I often get my sand shot within 4 or 5 feet, but I invariably miss the putt.

golfshot tells me 21%.  would love to get that near 1/3, even 1/4 would save a stroke a round

I like to think its somewhere around 20% but at the moment its more like less then 10%. During autumn and winter our bunkers are more like ponds or the German style bunkers (concrete). No sense to practice them, no sense to play them.

Next month I will need to practice bunkers a lot. Hope to get back to 20% or more.

16.7% for my Scorecard results. That was the first half of last season.

My guess was 20-29.9%, but usually with these things we think we're better than what we are.  I do make a lot of sand saves, but my putting is what lets me down.

I place I practice has a sand bunker which I use.  Pick a spot on the green to land the ball and practice how hard to swing.  It's been a LONG time since I left a ball in a bunker.  If the ball has a good lie and not much lip, I will chip rather than blast.  I get stony on those.
