Hello guys,

I have two questions to you today.

1) I dont now if it is only my opinion but Mizuno isn't producing clubs like MP57/MP60 more, right? Mizuno is producing the MP54 but it is not like the other I've talked about, it's thicker than MP57

02)I'm handicap 12 (index 9.0) and thinking about changing my iron set that I use now (Callaway X-14). My friend has a Mizuno MP57 that I've hitted sometimes and loved it, but I'm scared about the difficult to hit this clubs. By this way, I'm thinking about buying Mizuno MP57 (I know that there is not prodution more), Mizuno MP54 or Titlest AP2. What can you talk about this clubs for me?

PS: I know that it is bullshit, but I love irons that are thinner on the... Somebody can help me if the MP54 is much thicker than MP57?

Thanks a lot and sorry about my english (I'm from Brazil and have a little problems with english)

I don't think Mizuno's MP line has a true blade cavity back similar to the Titleist CB's.

Most of Mizuno's irons have a slightly thicker top line than you typically see in a pure blade iron. It's not really extreme though. I think some of it has to do with the satin face finish with the chrome sides making the topline look a tad bigger than it actually is.

All very similar clubs. The MP 54 would be the slightly less forgiving iron. You might want to look at the JPX-850 forged irons. They are more of the traditional cavity back style. If you worry about forgiveness this club will have the better player iron look, but still give you good forgiveness on slightly off-center hits.

I don't much about either of those clubs, but your English is far better than our Portuguese. :-D

I've heard the same thing about Mizunos... Personally as a handicap similar to mine... I highly recommend a forgiving player's iron or a small GI iron, If you like Mizuno, I'd try the JPX-850 forged or JPX-EZ forged, Ping IE1, or the Titleist AP2... the top line is a little thicker in the 54 than the 57 or 60 in my opinion, I hit a ton of irons over the winter, whilst getting fit...

Personally, a forgiving players club is going to be a big jump from a Callaway X-14 from 1999... Irons have jumped in tech a bunch in the last 17 years... Hell TM is making a 7-iron with 28.5° loft which is not a 7-iron by traditional standards, but apparently it hits higher than any other SGI on the market...

i just bought the TM irons you are referring to...M2's.  I am an 8 hdcp and quite frankly, I love them.  Played my first round the other day and shot -1 on the back nine (made putts but hit all solid iron shots).  I was never the best ball striker specifically with long irons but these clubs are very forgiving and hitting a 4 or 5 iron is now like hitting a 6 or 7 iron...first under par 9 in over a year!

@Rafamoro, bem vindo ao TST.  Mocambique era casa por quase vinte anos e por isso falo Portugues.

Actually your English is not bad.

Getting onto the clubs.  Why don't you check out the clubs in person, preferably at the pro shop, and then decide how you feel about it.  Sometimes you are willing to ignore the looks if the club performs well.

What's in the bag

  • Taylor Made RAC OS 6-9,P,S (regular)

The most encouraging news was no soreness the next morning.
