I just received an email from Aimpoint telling me about their new found partnership.

anyone sold on it?  I will most likely not be getting in on this any time soon as I see it as over kill.  How about you?

I have one, as does… @billchao, I think. He's writing a review.

I think some things are relevant. Tempo in putting is important, for example. I don't trust it to get other things right, like loft at impact, or rotational information.

Did you guys pay for it though or get to do a product review?

Also, I'm not sold on that senser being able to pick up any stats that would actually be beneficial.

We don't buy the things we review, no.

I was only asking because usually there is a thread started about items that are under review and I didn't find anything on blast golf when I searched before starting the thread.

Anyway, I'll stay tuned to hear about how it went.

No, there isn't. Bill is staff. This is not a Member Review.

It's gotta be better than the Ping iPhone app. I though that would be awesome until I realized that it threw my putter's weight profile out the window. Good idea, bad execution.

Yours in earnest, Jason.

This looks like it has slow play enhancer written all over it if used by a 'gear head' during a round.

Yes, but that's not the point. It's a training aid. And illegal to use in a round, really.

That's a good point, but it's not what's depicted in the marketing.

Few things:

In the commercial they talk about stats from tee to green, however in the details of their website they say that you attack sensors to drivers and putters.  (What about the irons? Especially if you are advertising tee to green.

The second is why wouldn't they make these like the older gamegolf ones, I still don't get these grips?  Does the system come with it or they expect people to change their grips to accommodate it?

Finally, I'm still perplexed why Aimpoint would partner with them?  I mean if they were like a green mapping company that would make sense.  Not to mention that I still have a huge doubt as to the benefits of the stats this thing produces.

I know I'm probably being negative, but I guess I see this as just another ploy to bilk money out of golfers who don't know any better.

I was at my clients demo day and Blast was there.  It's a cool device that includes a sleeve that slips over your grip and includes a housing for you to place the Blast module into.  It tracks a lot of detailed information such as; back swing and down swing time, swing speed, swing tempo and some proprietary statistics.  For putting it tracks back stroke time, forward stroke time, tempo, lift, lie, rotation.

The reason for the sleeve versus the screw in Game Golf method is because some putters (like the one I use, Tank Cruiser) do not have the ability to screw devices into the grip.  It also isn't meant to screw into one club and leave it there, it can be used with any club.  I hit driver, woods, irons and putter with the Blast device and the data it reported was accurate with past experiences using simulators and Sky Golf.   As for the putting stats I'm not sure how accurate they are but it seems beneficial.

I liked how it worked so I bought one.

    • Day 80: a bunch of mirror work ole watching Michigan lose. Working on grip and downswing feels.
    • Day 5 - 2024-10-05 Hit some somewhat soft pitching wedges. The outside and inside, particularly the outside of the left thumb where my right hand goes on it, is still pretty sore. I don't think I'll do more damage, but I'm reluctant to do too much because I don't want to compensate or alter my motion.
    • Day 156 (05 Sep 24) - Played new to me course today, it’s near our beach place and have been wanting to play it for a couple of years now.  It’s a neat Par 70 that plays just over 6k from the tips, played the whites 5,500 +/-.  Tight fairways and severely undulating greens made for some great shot strategy.  Wound up with an even 80 that included two lost ball penalties.  Putter was solid - 28 total.  Wedge play kept the pars happening - 6 of the 9 pars were up and downs.  Not bad for the first time on a new course.
