122 Club Speed

Hello everyone, Im new to these forums. Little bit about myself......haven't been playing golf consistently for very long(sixth time at the range in about 3 years) but iv. I went to the range today and a lady had a trackman setup. Asked her if I could try it out and she was hesitant at first(was wearing gym shorts and shirt) but she agreed. I only got 1 swing in but it felt great even though i have been hitting the same driver(cobra ss 350) since highschool....currently 28yr. Anyways after looking at the numbers she was pretty surprised and told me my swing is very fast. A pro instructor came over and looked at the numbers and explain with a correct fitting and updated drive I could hit it 300+ no problem. My question for you all is what driver would fit best?

Yes, that's pretty fast.. What's more concerning isn't the club fitting, but the -7.7 attack angle.. If you can get that up into the + numbers you might see some significant increase in distance..

that spin rate is probably way too high for a driver as well, mostly see that type of spin with 8,9 irons maybe.

It's a combination, right?  I agree that the biggest increase would come from improved AA, but a fitting can bring down the spin numbers as well

Either way, 122mph is a nice base to work from.  Consider that I can carry it 250 and I can only swing 108 or so, and even I don't have ideal numbers.  OP can get well into the 300's ... I'm jealous! :)

Thanks for the replies! What would cause such a high spin rate? And can this be correct with a updated driver? How would a Callaway XR 16 compare to my 14 year old Cobra ss 350(45g low kick stiff)?

Coming down into the ball like that at 7* is probably the main culprit, so an updated driver probably won't help a lot, but I think it might be able to help some ... If it's fitted properly.  I don't know the answer to your last question - I'm not really an equipment nut. :)

Yeah. Start to hit level or +2 or so and then worry about your spin numbers. They'll drop significantly from improving your AoA alone.

Here are some updated stats on a fitting I did Today. Number are looking much better than my old driver. 300+ for Driver and some 200+ 7 iron.

What type of launch monitor?  Is this also trackman?  Id be a little wary of those numbers because that's much more drastic of a difference than I'd expect in the spin numbers when you're still coming into the bal so far down.

But if those are accurate, than that's awesome!

The launch monitor was nFLight. If you look at my 328 yard drive the spin was only 2200. However when comparing the two different systems and the same club(nflight shot #4) its carrying 20 yards farther. Not sure which system to trust.....
