Crosby takes the goal scoring lead… despite missing the first six games.

He'll cool off I'm sure but man… what a run he's on. Points in 26 of his last 27 regular season games. 19/20.

He's still well back in points.

How did you like that game vs the CBJ?

Seemed like a pretty cruel joke. That was one of the worst games I've ever seen that I wasn't trying to play in.

Ah well, last year the Penguins would have slaughtered the Oilers.  One unlucky play in the dying minutes and at least they would have scraped out a point.

The Oilers are a better team this year.

The Pens' "Conor" beat the Oilers "Connor." (not in point total though, but in goals… :-D)

Last year the Oilers didn't have 9 wins until December.  As long as Calgary sucks, that's the most important thing.

On a side note, I barely noticed Justin Schultz tonight.  That's an improvement, as well.

You guys didn't use him well. He's been pretty darn good.

Schultz was set up to fail from day one.  No sheltered minutes, no true veterans showing him the proper way to play really messed with his confidence and ability to play his game.

I'm glad he's in a better position to learn and succeed with the Pens.

Plus, he's got his name on the Cup now, too.

Been a pretty crappy month and now Galchenyuk and Desharnais are both out for 6-8 weeks. Hoping this isn't the start of another December swoon.

The injury bug has been an issue for my Oilers, as well.  Especially on the blue line.  They lost an absolute stinker to the Flyers tonight.   I haven't watched any Habs games this year, how's Jeff Petry making out so far?

Honestly, where I'm at, I only get to see games very occasionally. I can't say that I've really been able to watch enough to have formed my own opinion on a second-pair defenseman..

Petry's at 9 points and and a +4 in 26 games. So it sounds like he's filling a role. On the other hand, Carey apparently had to defend himself last night after New Jersey's Palmieri ran him and took four minutes in the process. That's a role that the best player on the ice ought to have other guys fill and Petry was on the ice for that one.

How about that Metro division this year, eh? 15-7-3 gets you… wait for it… fifth place right now.

Yikes!

The loser's point, aka OTL, really makes it hard to look at standings. That said, the Met is pretty tough this year. CBJ isn't a soft touch anymore. It's a little surprising to see the Islanders are in the cellar. Also solid win streaks by the Penguins, Rangers and Jackets going as we type.

Anybody just see the Cody Eakin hit on Lundqvist? Brutal. Worse than Lucic on Miller. What concerns me is that none of the other Rangers jumped Eakin. Maybe in the rematch between the teams?

Jumping him isn't going to do anything except to penalize the team that was harmed.

I wonder how long that suspension will be.

True, but I mean, if your world class goalie gets laid out on a dirty hit, you'd think that somebody at least jumps in. Guess they chose to make Dallas pay on the scoreboard instead.

I'd give him 3-5 games; don't believe he has a history.

What concerns me is the amount of people on social media ranting about how he deserved to get hit for playing the puck that long or for being out of his crease or blah blah blah old school hockey.

There's this thing called a rulebook, I wish they would read it sometime.

I agree. But at the same time a goalie playing the puck and lingering long enough to cause obstruction isn't cool either.

Not what happened here per se. But goalies take advantage all the time.

    • A 5400 yd course is not that short for gents driving it 160 yards considering the approach shot lengths they are going to be faced with on Par 4s.  Also, for the course you are referring to I estimate the Par 4s have to average longer than 260 yds, because the Par 5s are 800 yds or so, and if there are four Par 3s averaging 130 the total is 1320 yds.  This leaves 4080 yds remaining for 12 Par 4s.  That is an average of 340 per hole. Anyway, if there are super seniors driving it only 160ish and breaking 80 consistently, they must be elite/exceptional in other aspects of their games.  I play a lot of golf with 65-75 yr old seniors on a 5400 yd course.  They all drive it 180-200 or so, but many are slicers and poor iron players.  None can break 80. I am 66 and drive it 200 yds.  My average score is 76.  On that course my average approach shot on Par 4s is 125 yds.  The ten Par 4s average 313 yds.  By that comparison the 160 yd driver of the ball would have 165 left when attempting GIR on those holes.
    • I don't think you can snag lpga.golf without the actual LPGA having a reasonable claim to it. You can find a ton of articles of things like this, but basically: 5 Domain Name Battles of the Early Web At the dawn of the world wide web, early adopters were scooping up domain names like crazy. Which led to quite a few battles over everything from MTV.com You could buy it, though, and hope the LPGA will give you a thousand bucks for it, or tickets to an event, or something like that. It'd certainly be cheaper than suing you to get it back, even though they'd likely win. As for whether women and golfers can learn that ".golf" is a valid domain, I think that's up to you knowing your audience. My daughter has natalie.golf and I have erik.golf.
